Being I live 20 minutes from Folkestone, I fancy jumping on the Euro Star for a £24 day return & heading out for some fun on the French roads. Never done it before & been messing about with routes on Michelin Maps. Come up with this one:

Anyone done it, something similar or got any recommendations?

Depart from Folkestone around 8am, get to Calais just after 8.30am. Get the train home from Calais around 7pm gives me 10 hours or so to get some riding in, take in some sights & stop for lunch with a coffee or two :biggrin

Any input welcome. Cheers, Robbo :thumbup

take a couple of days and do the world war 1 thing round abbeville and amiens.

Will do one day, possibly enroute on a future trip to Le Mans for the GP. With 2 kids under 5 & baby no.3 due in the next couple of weeks I'm just looking to have a blast for the day & back home in time for tea.

Cheers for the tip tho mate :thumbup

Robbo, The roads round that part of france are pretty boring IMO.

Not sure what the coast road is like going down towards abbeville, i got fustrated with stop start and jumped on the m/way, but the route back up is dull. But at the very least you can stop for some decent coffee and its something different.

The further south you go the better they become, that said you aint going to get that far into france on a day trip.

Cheers Pinny. Any suggestions on better roads that can be done in a day then?

Not much help but i dont really think there are, if you go to far down you will be pushed to get back in a day.

Just jump on your bike and do your route, better than sat at home thinking if only..

True. Can't be any worse than doing a 200 mile loop around the South & what I spend on the Euro Star I may save in fuel costs?

Cheers for the heads up nobba. What the women like, I dirty holes :biggrin

Not definite, just came up in conversation the other day when discussing our next trip. Was that for the GP or either Magny Cours, Brno, Nurburgring for WSB.

Anyway back on track. Being the man in though know, any advice on the day trip?

If I lived where you do I'd be hoping over every other week mate ;-]
Just go over and follow your nose, not to far, just leisurely pleasure riding. Enjoy the bonhomie and stench of garlic and Gitanes.

Follow my nose. What you trying to do, get me in trouble? I'd end up in some dodgy brothel somewhere!

My wife to drop baby no.3 which is due next week, then I'm gone :thumbup

The labour call while I'm over the drink would be an interesting one :lol

Living in Hastings, the ferry/tunnel is very close to me too, and have often done days trips in the car or taken the caravan for a longer stay.
But never taken the bike.

I quite fancy doing a day trip with the bike, and would love to take in a WSB or GP round but the dates are tricky this year for me.
Be good to know if you get a good route...I think just going over and heading down the coast for starters would be good fun

Hopefully we'll meet up tomorrow anyways, hopefully you have arranged the weather

More than welcome to join me mate, talk more tomorrow I'm sure!

No Mr Fish so fook knows what the weather has in store. If it's dry when I get in from work I'm heading over regardless.
