Cylindrical oddity on US T v4's?

Anyone know what that cylindrical plastic canister is below the lower right fairing behind the radiator is on the US Tuono? EU bikes dont have it, mine certainly doesn't.

I believe the US version of the Gen 2 also has that same plastic bottle, under the pillion's seat. I think it has something to do with emissions.

Ah, EVAP canister, filled with charcoal.

Looks very much like an after thought. No offence to our US friends but I'm pretty glad the EU dont have to suffer that.
