if i have an aftermarket chip do i still have to cut the wire to derestrict? looks like it has been done before, well two wires near ecu have heatshrink on them so looks like something has been done......

It depends on witch aftermarket chip.
Some put the same map on both addresses.
Most have 2 maps so if it runs you should be ok

it looks like 2 wires on the large plug have been cut then repaired back again, maybe powercommander?? theres also a plug sticking out by the seat lock?

it was the small connector not the large one

Do you have a standard exhaust system on your RSV now? If so then they may have turned the chip back to Map 1 setting for this and rejoined the wires. The original chips of this era had two (2) maps. I run an after market chip with only one full tune custom map to suit my exhaust after market exhaust system, therefore my ECU wire is not clipped either. If you choose to mod. the bike, eg non- std exhaust, airbox derestricting & using the std. chip, then is best to have wire clipped and map 2 selected for better fueling. If you fit a Power Commander, then you can dial in your fueling wherever you want by dyno writing a custom map. Hope this helps.

it has a std exhaust but with piper-x open airfilter mod(loud!).....the pic of the chip reveals according to dr rossi that its a cheap fleabay item so he's sending me one of his to go with my setup. I have a wideband data logger that I can hook up to bike to check fueling so ill post results(had an m18 stainless boss welded in) just got to fork out for another o2 sensor as my scooby has eaten my last one!
