Hi there everybody! Im thinking of making an "ABBA" sort of stand that supports the bike from the motor mount screw holes that are in the chassis just above and a bit forward of the swing arm pivot(perhaps using some hard plastic for not marring the paint ).
Some advantages compared to the normal type might be: better weight balance and good for swing arm removal. It surely has been done already and somebody can recommend or warn against the cons of such a design .

I have a NWS pro stand ( now out of production as NWS are now defunct ) which has 2 round bars with a spike on the inner ends that locate into the swing arm pivot holes .

it will fit most modern bikes .and works like a dream !!

it would be good to have the metal sizes and measurements or a drawing of your stand to replicate one, as swing arm removal is not possible with mine .

Googled NWS which i did not know about and look very nice too, bit like the abba.
I don't have other bikes and yes was one more reason to build it, to inspect and do the full maintenance of the rear train on the tuono
Here you can almost lift the bike like any other center stand just grabbing the rear peg support.
 
not yet but I will. There is up to 5 or 6mm of free movement up and down on the wheel axle, coming from play in at least two of the linkage bushings/bearings and I want to check those in the swing arm pivot as well.
I repaired linkage play in previous bike and it really improved stability. I have to look for the full procedure on the T as I might need special tools like a sort of "castle" socket, right?
 
I did my dog bone sa/shock linkage bushes and bearings last winter . unbelievable improvement in handling .

griff at aprilia performance in tamworth .uk . does a complete kit inc all required bits for around £ 100 /E 120 , and are better parts than genuine !! also I fitted some nylon

spacer/thrust washers to the assembly to take out the standard sideways slop .

on this e bay would be your friend !!
 
No special tools required to do just the dog bones , and there are loads of threads on this subject on the forum .

you will have to execute some mechanical abuse or lack of sympathy on the rear header pipe to clear room for top bolt removal .

although mine did sort of spring out of the way with a bit of pulling .

You refer to sideways slop in the three linkage bolts or in the swing arm ends to-frame gap?
 
no , its the slop in the dog bone oil seal to side plate !!! , a 1.5 mm nylon washer either side takes out all the float ! one of my side plates shows signs of slight rubbing .
now I have no float ,no rubbing and no ill side effects .
the whole set up is now kept central as previously the bearings and oil seals could float slightly along the bush just by a couple of mm .
