Crashed my mint Mille R

thanks fellas :thumbup

i bought a kit of carbon covering stuff matt to do the lower front fairing piece and the piece that goes between the radiators, but haven't got around to it. would be good to see how it's done by a pro sometime. if i find the time, perhaps i could pop round sometime with my bits and you could show me how to do it? :thumbup

yeah no probs mate just say the word, not sure about being a pro but have done a bit here and there lol actually doing a bit tonight for KSA on PF

the bits i've seen look bloody good :thumbup

do you think a front fairing piece could be wrapped? looks like this:

yeah I would think so, cant see any major problems with that matey just takes a bit of time to get it smooth, lots of flatting and re-applying resin but almost anythings possible!

I did my mirrors on the cossy a while back

gives you an idea of what sort of shapes can be done without any hassle

what is this new fanggled carbon wrapping wonder?
not heard of it before

can it be used to repair all panels? even if part of the panel is missing?
is it proper carbon? good finish?
expensive? and where from?

advice please, thanks

good luck with the repairs, hope you are ok in the morning
we all make mistakes, just as long as we learn from them
just hope i'm not due for another lesson soon....

Being able to learn from your mistakes is vital its what I tell all my students the guys who just make excuses should be makeing an appointment with the funeral director to get messured up for a coffine.

this should answers your questions

but all it is a way to have carbon covered parts, like the pics above you would repair any damage and instead of repainting you cover it in carbon something like that front fairing could be done for about £40 if you do it your self:thumbup

i'd like to add that crash bungs are only brilliant in certain circumstances. They are more effective on track i reckon, where there aren't as many sticky out things like kerbs and street furniture waiting to catch on and cause just as much damage. They are good but don't start moaning if you have one of the accidents where they actually do more harm than good!

Extremely impressed with those frame bungs they served the job perfectly! This proves how important it is that bungs are made of the correct materials, they need to with stand impact but not fracture and be soft wearing!

Cant say the same for the front ones though, they should of stayed put! Makes me wonder if the studding/washer is enough :dunno

Ive made my own and have a stainless steel tophat running through the inner section of the bung surounding the studding, fingers crossed mine will stay put heaven forbid i drop it! :pirate

Glad your ok, truth be known its all easily repairable!

First on your list are NEW FRAME BUNGS :devious

Anyone wants R&G's, drop me a line, the zone had a group buy on these a while back. Pretty much reckon I can get the same deal again... Got a mate, know what I mean....

You can buy spare parts for them, bungs, brackets and bolts all seperately. Saves buying the whole lot again.

Glad you're still in one piece matey.

will be replacing with new R&G bungs soon :thumbup

anyone got a mint LH front indicator kicking about?

i've got a spare indicator standard if u want? its just missing the plug on the wiring but you've already got that. easy fix! no problemo.

I have to agree. The R&Gs are good bit of kit!.

I was filtering early this year, So guy pulled out and hit the side of me, The R&G took most of the blow which bent it and the bar thats connects it. With only 3 little marks on the fairing which you cant not see, Lucky it was there to save the bike and my foot, As i am sure i would of broken or nasty mark on it, As the bung ripped his bumper off and busted his water bottle, Oh and my knee slider bent his wing :D.

Glad to say that I've never needed to test them in anger but I would say that the rear mounted bungs nearly caused me to drop my bike numerous times before I finally removed them. I found them so close to my shins that I caught my leg on them when putting my foot down.

Left the fronts on and added swing arm bungs. Looking for a set of front spindle bungs if anyone has any :thumbup
