R&G are prob the best known make(iv got em )dont realy know ,wheres best to buy ...sorry

R&G are definitely the best out there !! They shouldn't be too hard to come by for you, as it's a company from your side of the pond :)

The old rabbit with the pancake on its head:confused don't see that everyday:biggrin cheers for the info Pumpkin,I had a sneaky peak in your garage, nice bike,I had a yellow(second fastest colour)01 model but changed it for a red(fastest colour!)06 model, have you had a chance to bring it on the track yet?

I haven't taken the RSV to the track yet as I haven't had her for long, since November :)
But I'll be spending some time on the track the next months.
First trackday coming up on 29/03, then 28/04, 05/05, 09/05 and 19/05 :banana

can anyone recommend what ones are worth getting

I've had the unlucky experience of trying both R&G's and Motrax protectors out and both at similar low speeds.

R&Gs bent its mounting spacer :jack

Motrax TopBlock was solid as a rock :thumbup and would get my vote.

Both wore about the same, but the Motrax Top Block feels better quality IMO

R&G fella, saved my bike on two unfortunate occasions, just had to replace the bungs rather than the fairings, and try good old faithfull........ ebay for purchase buddy! :thumbup Or failing that the info Pumpkin provided :thumbup

in a crash at a certain speed, a good crash bung HAS TO bend a bit, if the bolts are too stiff, they'll either dent your frame or snap.. and no, you can't ever compare two crashes, every single one is different.

to give you my opinion about them, i'll try to explain it this way:

if the motrax would be offered to me for free today, i wouldn't fit them.
at the same time, if the R&G's would cost me 200 quid, i'd still buy them in a split second.

and that's because of years experience, 'testing (read; crashing)' with them, on both road and track...

R&G's saved my racebikes on at leat 10 occasions.... 'nuff said...

edit: the ones that motrax do now, aren't even top blocks anymore... top block sued them because motrax had their stuff copied in china.. after first selling the top blocks..

You just helped me change my mind mate...I bow to your experience and will look to replace mine with R&Gs. I hadn't thought of the frame denting if the bolts too stiff

That makes sense CWALKER,I've just ordered a set of R&G uppers off Ebay,I had a set of lowers on my 01 mille and they were a pain in the arse everytime you put your feet down you knock your shins off them!Has anyone here crashed with just the uppers on or would ye recommend fitting both sets, also what about the front fork sliders, are the RSVs prone to damage in this area?

especially for people with longer legs, the lower ones can be a pain, yes...
i do put the lowers on for track use, but take 'em off for street... i'd rather have them on all the time, but i keep hitting them with my leg when moving the bike forward or backward... i'm 1m86 though...

the fork ones are VERY recommended, especially the öhlins forks are prone to crash damage..

CW put some R&G fork protectors on mine :) He's very right, those öhlins are well worth protecting! And they're quite subtle too if you ask me, I don't notice 'em anymore.

Look for the fairing bungs in this pic, seriously, I forget they're there :laugh
Haven't hurt my leg on them either, but I did on Snackmans' 01 RSV.. is that because of the different sitting position or what..? :confused

Rusty, I've fitted all of them, and they have saved my bike twice now. Just had to replace the plastic bungs, no other damage.

Also I'm 6 foot and have no problems hitting legs or shins buddy :thumbup
