I am getting nervous about how my enthusiasm may out-stretch my talent on a big trip this summer, and am planning on getting some crash bungs for my T. I am assuming R&G are the ones to get but ....

For those who have been unfortunate enough to actually benefit from their crash bungs, any thoughts on which ones have proved most beneficial ?

Frame, wheel spindle, swing-arm, all of the above and more ?

the two frame ones. The big one is a pain until you're used to it but it's the most important

like Sparky says, they're right in front of your shins and can catch you unawares when you need to put your feet down quickly. Nice to stretch your legs out on top of them during a long ride though!

PS look at Maldroids recent pics. It shows the big ones have taken the most damage

Frame ones, particularly the lower. Spend now and not after an accident!

Frame ones as described - also either the replacement swing arm bobbins or the axles one on the rear, front axle not really worth it the handlebars prevent the brkaes etc hitting the deck.

Rear axle ones not worth bothering about as your Akra's/Arrows/Mivvs/whatever will take the brunt...! :bawling

The wife lowsided her R1 years ago and the r&g slider took all the brunt

Although there was damage it was rideable till I could get some bits at decent prices

Its not funny though when you come round a corner and your missus is propped up against a fence and the bike is 50 yards away. Silly cow :banghead

At least the bike was mostly ok.

i just found this out to my cost today, new tyre ,wet road, not good, had r&gs on and i can say, they done the job fine and well, small scuff on pipe, gear change and lever, broke one side off belly pan,and buffed the paddock lifter, got the can sorted, replacement r&g bout 30-40 quid, replacement belly pand side 80.and gearchange peg and rubber 5,cheap for a bike that went up the road for 10-12 feet, R&Gs are well worth the money mate,

Just out of interest, do the lower ones (on Tuoldos) get in the way when using an Abba superbike stand? I can see that they're not in the swing arm pivot, but further up the frame, I'm just wondering if they get in the way as you haul the bike up?
