Hi all,

After I managed to come off my T at around 15-20mph I thought ah well the crash bung has done it's job and saved the tank and frame, until the insurance company come out to evaluate the damage and I find out that it's a common problem with Aprilia's, if you have crash bungs fitted as the frame is alloy and the sliders are steel they 9 times out of 10 crack the frame, so now because of this and the rest of the damage it takes the total to around £4000+ so it's a wright off as a cat D. :crazy

was it the upper or lower ones that did the damage tae yer frame?

Uppers but apparently lowers do exactly the same, and it would have been cheaper to replace the tank.

Was the frame obviously cracked, Superstardj0? or did they use some sort of metal fatigue type tool to check for cracks?

I wont get another Tuono unfortunatly I can not longer afford to insure one, i'm thinking of a Monster 696 or a street triple simply because they ride nicely and i can insure them, not too bothered by the power decrease.

Now over £1000 FC as I will loose my NCB and have a registered accident (my fault) plus no garage.

**** mines fc unlimited mileage pillion etc and it's 280. I've been riding 3 yrs aged 38 and have 3 points on my licence from speeding which still affects my insurance. It was only 1000 when I had a 1000 cc gsxr 07 after I passed. U shopped around

`kin ell bay, that`s a phenomenal price, who`s it with ?? I`m an old git (well, older than you anyway), and I can`t get near that price fully comp, with a clean licence. Maybe it`s my lack of NCB ?

The bikes garaged though and live in a fairly quiet area. Can't remember who it's through. Always see the site advertised on eurosport. They sent me a text and compared insurers. I was with ebike and they were good but more expensive even though I'd been with the 3 yrs

Well last year mine was £180 with 0 NCB fully comp & no garage (locked shed though with ground anchor). I'm 42. No points or accidents.

This year went up to £200 with 1 yr NCB. Company called WickedQuotes (yes I know **** name!!).

I think mine is something like 370 FC, for the tuono, blade and 916, c/w pillion and 6k a year. and any other bike 3rd party

I've heard of this sorta thing before,....mainly on race/trackday bikes where the crashes are usually big.
Sorry to hear about your bike, but thanks for the heads up.

£210 for me fully comp, fully protected NCB, RAC cover and legal protection

Bennetts

mines £120 FC. I'm 35

I spoke to them recently and apparently I got lucky as it was a 'muscle bike' policy they only offered for a short time. Now in the 2nd year with the policy and still £120

No luck superstardj.

Every time i see guys with the lower crash bungs i can`t help but think get the fookers off they`ll only wreck your frame as described by yourself . Sent my mille down the road doing about 50 mph ish and it cracked the ****** frame an all !!! Don`t think people are aware that they`re alot more trouble than they`re worth ...the lower ones anyway !

Better off letting the bike have a few scuffs here and there than a fooked frame me thinks ?
