Crap hose clamps

I ran my Tuono while it was hybernating for winter, and it obviously didnt like being woken too early as it decided to piss its radiator contents over the floor.
Having replaced several hose clips for jubilee clips I thought problem solved.
Went for a run out today and let it stretch its legs, but when I got back there is dried residue obviously from the top hose out of the radiator.
Should have just replaced thm all to start with.

I've just bought a bagful of jubilee clips - I've got another leaking clip. Time to change all. Yawn.

I had a nice pool of slightly oily blue liquid under my bike yesterday after a cry enthusiastic run out, I guess I am now suffering from a similar issue as I can't think what else this liquid could be :-(

Coolant can become corrosive when the bike is left to stand all winter.
It only works effectivly if is in contact with the areas it needs to protect.
What happens next is some chemistry, the water gives of a glycol vapours which become corrosive.

A few months pass, you go to your bike, press the go button, bike gets warm and pressurises the system and your nice clean garage is wearing the contents of you cooling system.

Im not saying this is what has happened in your case, but its happend to me in the past.

had my t about four weeks now, got back sunday after a blast and it was wet on the left hand side ie top of petrol tank, frame, and left fork, had a look and it looks like it is coming from the top of the rad, lost a bit of water but not a lot. thinking about using rad weld what do you think.

who makes the best quality clamps..stainless ones mibbe? lots o them oot there,, maistly cheap ***** tho... ( an ah ken "Jubilee" afore any one starts!)...

" looks like it is coming from the top of the rad"

i,d find out mate for sure, and radweld ---- i,ve always been brought up being told radweld is no good on motorcycle coolant systems, not sure why maybe the bore of the pipework?

. thinking about using rad weld what do you think.
You may as well use and egg white!!! Better of finding out where the leak is and doing it propper, it will only come back to bite you if you dont.

ye i know thats what i am scared of, dont wont to use radweld if it might damage the engine dont know what to do for best buy new rad or look on ebay, looking for a temp fix that wont do the engine any harm until i get a replacment rad.

****** min... ah think ye need tae determine its def the rad itsel thats leakin and nae ony o the hose connections. Ah widnae go doon the radweld route unless absolutely the only way tae get her hame..

Also watch oot for any points as well where the plastics ( top fairing ears for example) micht be rubbin oan a hose. ( i found two such areas on mine when fitting the upper R&G crash bungs.

Also if it turns out it is yer rad thats buggered then there are lots o specialist radiator repairers oot there who could mibbe recore/rebuild/repair it probably cheaper an quicker than finding unblemished Ape one frae the usual sources.

thanks for that rico, had a good look tonight and it is the rad its at the top. cant see any damage to the fins just a wet patch, there is a local rad specialist i will go and have a chat with him the weekend see what he as to say.
