Coring Factory cans?

Has anyone cored the 09 factory cans, the type with the cone on the end?

PaulV60 and me sen will be attempting this a week on Saturday and would welcome any advice. I've read the sticky on the "how to do" page and it says you need 63mm 2.5inch tube, would it be the same for the type of cans fitted to the 09 factory?

We will also be shortening them by 50 to 60mm so they don't sit proud of the number plate.

Thanks for any help/advice

Theirs no difference in doing these cans from 'normal' cans. I did it but the bloody pics were on my old phone and the cans have gone. What I did have to do though was have a bigger upperer swaged to join up from the perf to the end cone. [just so it looked good]
As for the cat I find it easier and quicker to drill loads of long 5mm holes around it rather than chisel it out as some do.
Make sure you have the right stuff before you start, ie grinder blades, rivits and all the perf and packing etc.
Most importantly make sure you protect the cans from scratches and mishaps. Its very easy to slip when your drilling the rivits out. After every end that you drill out clean up so you haven't got any bits that could scratch out. I always put the cans on old carpet when I'm working on them. Make sure you don't get the grinding wheel to hot of you use that to shorten them, they'll discolour. Hacksaw is probably safer.
Also watch the ends if you have to bash anything out.
Bizzarley satisfiying is coring. Good luck.

Great, thats just what I wanted to hear. I'm doing the job with Paul V60paul and I know he's pretty good at this sort of thing and has all the tools needed plus I'm not to bad at DIY me sen so between us we should manage a good finnish.

I have some protection tape that is sticky enough to stick but doesn't leave a residue when you pull it off (Mmmm that doesn't sound right:crazy) I'll wrap the entire cans in it before we start and a lump of the front room carpet will be going with me....:thumbup

I'll take some pics along the way and post when job is done.

Thank you.

windy:cheers
