I was out riding yesterday in the lovely winter sun. I stopped for a coffee at a mcdonalds when a random bloke came over to me to say "THATS A LOVELY BIKE BY THE WAY".:thumbup

Now this is not the first time this has happened with the aprillia. In fact it is quite a regular occurence. People are always stopping and looking when its parked up, others admiring when i'm sat at traffic lights, people going out of their way to speak to you about the bike at meets.

My point is, this has never happened with all the jap bikes i've had(& triumphs come to think of it). But the italian always turns heads and creates interest. Has anyone else had experience of this:dunno

Weird because there have been some lovely designed jap bikes over the years but nothing seems to stir the passion that an italian bike does, why:dunno

Works that way if you're an Italian bloke too:biggrin:biggrin
Don't know what is it really, but it also works that way with a lot of other things: Ferrari makes the best cars(although we got Fiat to compensate..),Alpinestars the best race suits, and most designers are Italian and I can, for example, admire a radial Brembo caliper for 10 minutes, while a Jap similar-spec item I'll be like "yes, nice but.."
Must be that as you grow up surrounded by nice stuff through the years, designers want beauty to perpetuate itself.

I have noticed the same thing but the really bizar thing is that when me and the other half are out (we both have mille's mines an 01 and his is an 02 mine is black and his is silver) its my bike that gets the attention now i'm sure the that sometimes this is because its a 7.5 stone girly rideing as opposed to the other half who is 18 stone but that doesn't explain all the attention it gets when they are parked up and no one knows who they belong to.:)

I have had the same thing and for good reason. I mean, whichever rsv you have, just take a look at that swingarm... its a work of art! Beats a japanese square box section one anyday. Anyone with an r/factory model will appreciate the craftsmanship gone into making those awesome OZ rims. The japs know how to make a bike with bulletproof reliability but they just seem to lack that soul of an italian. I ride with a mate on a castrol sp-1. A fantastic bike to ride and looks great, but just lacks that panache you get with an aprilia. Oh and with reference to Fiat pedro.... they OWN Ferrari. They wanted to keep the brands separate and with good reason (c'mon would you buy an Enzo with a Fiat badge on it?!)

Best compliment by far that I have was from my R1 mounted mate at a trackday.

"How can a fat old ******* on an old bike like that go so effing quick, oh yeah its an RSV innit" - priceless :thumbup

Scott, they're usually pointing at your bike cause it's pissing petrol all over the petrol station forecourt. :nana

i used to get similar comments about my blue/gold/white '99 blade. It was more of an 'in the know' sort of thing though whereas the mille is of a more universal appeal

Get exactly the same with mine. Definately think it's a style thing, that and the beautiful noise that only a mille with open cans makes.....and she's yellow!

Hmmm, might have something to do with it... It's Kevlar lined for extra safety :)

My silver Factory is the fastest colour without doubt!! and it does turn heads all right, may be something to do with race cans with most of the packing blasted out of them :doug

Talking of yellow Ducati 996's I parked right next to one once and thought it looked ***** compared to mine.

Especially the front fairing and nose area around the bars.

The only part that looked better was the rear end & underseat pipes.:eatcorn
