Hi all today i started up my '02 RSV-R started 2nd go:thumbup
she was on the rear paddock stand and found when i pulled in the clutch the whee was still turning, so i stopped the engine pulled in the clutch and tried to turn the wheel by hand no luck.
so i changed the clutch fluid (as it was due anyway) 5.1 dot as recommended by Aprillia. still no luck:dunno
The bike has just had a full service oil filters etc.

+1 Make sure you do a PROPER bleed. These clutches can be hard to bleed when not using the right technique.

The clutch asssembly runs in oil so there will always be some drag through the oil between the plates, even with the lever pulled in. Trying to turn the wheel by hand takes quite an effort as you are fighting against the gear ratio of the chain and sprockets. Only way to be sure is to get it back on the ground, start it and then put it into gear with the clutch in. If it stalls, then there may be a problem.

Sometimes when you change the fluid crap gets washed through the system, that in turn can result in damage to seals = fluid loss. Know of another one with the same problem after a service c/w fluid change, simple diagnosis is to check the level. If its lost fluid, you need new seals.

Was just about to say that, more than likely just a dragging clutch, they are a ***** to get neutral when on the ground so this points to a dragging clutch, there is a mod that involves a oil spray jet mod,its on here somewhere

From both my Falco and my RSV Factory I know for a fact that the stock setup can work properly withou drag and with an easy to find neutral.

It can take some effort however to get it right.

I also found this the other night following an oil change.

Stick your foot under the rear tyre and you should be able to stop the wheel spinning fairly easily with the clutch pulled in. As the guys above have said, its all down to drag in the wet clutch assembly.

If you can't stop it easily then your clutch is dragging and you need to bleed the system.

I have bled the system twice now, first time pumped through then used a syringe and a non-return valve and quarter of a lire of 5.1 dot brake fluid and its still dragging.
Level in resovoir is constant at max.:dunno
Have ordered a new upgraded clutch jet today.
