Hi all
The old girl finally needs a new clutch at 13.5k (miles), it drags cold and slips. Does anyone have any recomendations for a replacement, OE or Barnett etc ? Many thanks

Are you sure it doesnt need bleeding or is the slave cylinder leaking?

have you done the 0.40 jet mod? and are you using Synthetic or semi?

Hi, the hydraulics seem fine, no leaks or air, I use synthetic Dot4, re the engine oil I’m using semi synthetic. Apologies but what’s the 0.40 jet mod? Thanks

Hi, just found loads of info on the oil jet 0.40 AP0268751 (from an 06/07 model), thats a must to sort the drag!! Many Thanks !!! (looks like there is 3 sizes 0.40, 0.60 & 0.75, think mine is fitted 0.75. Still have the slipping through the gears though, I'm thinking of replacing the OE with the same, unless anyone has a preferred replacement recommendation like a barnett ? thanks

before spending money

i would bleed the system thru
if its slipping at high rpm at 4/5/6 gears, it sometimes comes down to the type of semi synthetic used

You can strip the plates out and roughen them up & refit and 9 times out of ten cures the problem

Thats sound advice - thanks, she is slipping in the higher gears.

I'll strip it this weekend (already done the bleeding)

Could also have the earlier clutch basket in it, mine did and it high spotted the plates prematurely wearing them, i also suffered from the same symptoms

you can verify that with your engine number!!!

"Note for 1998-2001 owners: If you are experiencing clutch slippage, and have engine number 689953 and below, you first need the updated pressure plate from your dealer (part #0259517, about $60)"
I have 2000 and my engine number is above that number by ten thousands so I dunno if this is the same issue which my other Super half is referring to.... :) If you need a gasket check out my thread about the home made gasket from roof rubber. It still works like a charm!

PS. incase you are my childhood friend Fatma I feel so sorry about asking for ransom on those Turkish Barbie Knock off dolls that I took from your balcony with a string and a hook. I'm so sorry :) I returned them, Please forgive me! ROFLMAO hehe

Hi all
Replaced the clutch this weekend, after stripping the stack height was just below the service limit. After new OE plates, springs and brembo low compression fluid (that stuff ain't cheap, bought it mainly for the unless back brake) the clutch is now back to normal. ordered the 0.40 oil jet, when it arrives, I'm gonna then hunt every tool shop in the UK to find the perfect screw driver as mine is very tight in the casing (will also try with warm casings) if any can't find the jet (& i've seen a few questions, see photo in my garage, this is mine after the the allen bolt was removed (and oil filter), hope it helps)
