Cheers Bay, dont think mines been done as you summed it up well about a gear between 1st and 2nd but as I have been riding a 4 cylinder I just thought it was a bit lumpy due to it being a twin. Pleased I didnt buy the Monster I originally wanted as I still like a good dollop of power and the Tuono certainly has that. Loosing top end certainly isnt a problem, had it up to about 115 tonight and it was bloody scary, the Gixxer is like a jet turbine compared to the Tuono but going fast scares the **** out of me now and if the plod catch you they will lock you up with the paedos for out over a ton.

If the gearings std would a 15 on the front have a similar effect? always worked on the assumption that 1 on the front equals 3 on the back so dropping just the front sprocket by 2 should have a similar effect as 1 on the front and 2 up on the back ?

I've been told Heds it's due to the 15 being a smaller sprocket and the swingarm so it isn't recommended. 15/42 works on gen 2's but no recommend on gen 1's. 16/44 is way forward
 
Thanks for the advice, just thought that as the sprockets are good its a cheap fix. Gonna prob drop gearing but £15 for a front sprocket is cheaper than £100 + for full chain & sprocket set. Surely a drop to a 16 from a 17 wouldnt harm?
 
Your right there Bay, the chain can rub the swingarm with a 15 tooth on the front on a Gen 1,
mine is on 16/43 at the moment.
 
16/44 on mine too - perfect for me. Doubt there is much diff in 16/43 either Ash?

Heds yes 16 from 17 is cool.
 
Cheers Stix, not counting teeth, ordered now from Ebay. Must hit the hay now or I will end up drinking more vodka/spending on Ebay and never get up to get on the bike in the morn !!!!

Ahhhh **** I'm talking sense tonight. I was told never to change sprockets without changing chain as they bed themselves intoneach other. Who am I though. I'm no expert.

Mot booked in for 24th. Tax due end of month so all will be sorted. Need to doña recce in 1st though don't forget
