Some of you know me on here and some of you don't. My name is Rob and I'm in the RAF based at RAF Brize Noron in West Oxfordshire.
We have a motorbike club on camp and each year we like to do a largish charity event. Usually we get to use one of the taxiways and use it for 1/4 mile sprint drag racing. Run what yer brung type thing. However this year we're aiming bigger.
The plan, tho unconfirmed, is to do a poker run from George White's in Swindon (if you don't know where it is just look at the centre pages in MCN each weeks for the huge advert) whereby you will pay to enter (think it's a tenner but poss twenty) where you will receive a playing card. You will visit 3 other places (unconfirmed as yet) where you will receive another playing card. Finally ending up at Fox's diner (next door to MPS) at Dorchester-on-thames for your last card. Who ever has the best hand at the end of the day wins the prize which at the mo stands at a £300 voucher towards a lid. Lots of other prizes as yet but it depends on numbers nd weather etc we're trying to get local radio stations involved etc to boost publicity.
George White have provisionally said yes as it's for Help the Heros but unconfirmed as yet. This will def go ahead but the locations may change. should be confirmed soon and will will update as neccesary.
We have made the destinations not too far apart but more importantly with easy routes (A roads) and better routes (country lanes).
We hope to raise about £3000 so the more the merrier and have done it on a saturday so you won;t miss the racing on the sunday.
