Chain n sprocket question

I have a 2007 RSV tuono (r supposedly, according to handbook) its running 15\42 as opposed to 16\40 .I'm happy with 15\42 my question is book and all chains on eBay for my bike with standard gearing quote 108 links,but someone who is a big name with Aprilias said 106 ..which is right?ta in advance.

Buy yourself and angle grinder and a D.I.D chain link riveter and you can shorten a longer chain to fit .

I run 15 / 40 on my ,07 r and fitted a D.I.D 108 link cut to size .

Thanks but that doesn't answer the question , to run 15\42 is it 106 or 108 links?

standard chain for the 1000R is 525 - 106 links and will still be ok with the aftermarket sprocket sizes of 15 -42
the Gen 1 has 108 links
