I don't have a paddock stand yet and my chain really needs adjusting before I go to work in the morning ... I loosened the main nut and right hand side is fine to adjust but the left just won't turn (I can unscrew the locking nut fine) do I need to push the spindle (if thats what its called) through a bit?

Yours faithfully

mechanically inept :dunno

All the bikes weight will be on the left side, but you should still be able to adjust it. Sounds like the bolt is seized. Try spraying some WD40 on it and leave to soak a while before you try again. can you get someone to hold the bike upright, or prop it up while you adjust it :dunno

Well I have bodged it up for now, managed to get the wheel far enough back to get a ring spanner on the adjuster and could barely move it, wiggled .....wd40...wiggled ...wd40 etc... still really really stiff and the head was already slightly rounded from whoever did it last so no chance of tightening up and getting the ring spanner off

So other side was already wound in I put in 3 squares on metal I had.. wedged in after the nut head on problem side then wound out the good adjuster (a struggle) and that pinched up the bad side really tight then locked both locking nuts and tightened up spindle nut ... both sides wound out even and chain now at perfect tension so need to find a replacement adjuster (best place?) and either a super cheap paddock stand or a kind soul to let me use theirs :devious

Forza italia at Silverstone are very good. got some bit's from them and they stock a lot of bits for the bike

yeah looks good .i would email em to see if they would do for your bike , dk are aprilia dealers i think .

i just had a good scout round flea bay mate and i dont think you'll beat them stands from dk . the delivery is 6.95£ so looks good to me only thing is you may also have to purchase some hooks for your bobbins on the rear.

Paddock stands here tomorrow :thumbup A week+ for the chain adjuster screw thingy me bob .... hope my bidge lasts that long
