Anyone else watched the Laguna Seca Moto GP?

Great racing, great fight for 1st and imo Rossi pulled Stoner's pants down and just outplayed him.

Stoner just came across as a pissy little c*** and didn't shake his hand ( that I could see ) and was having a winge :jack and Rossi was like "**** off this is racing :biggrin "

Any thoughts on it?

Looney I watched it, and you are right. Stoner is a moaning ****. No offence to our Aussie members. Stoner is an awesome racer but if things dont go his way he moans like a prick. Rossi was class tonight. Lorenzo had a bad crash which he seems to do a bit but I dont feel too sorry about that lol! One of the best races I have watched in a long time tho.:thumbup

i think charlie cox called it right, dont think stoner kenw that rossi went off the track top of the corkscrew and when he came back on inside of stoner pushed him well wide (downhill off camber) consequently read rossi's move as over-agressive.

great race and i think rossi would have taken it anyway

also thought dovisioso is getting better and better. was fortunate enough to get a corporate with the JIR Scott Honda Team at Donnington (saturday qualifying) which was excellent, the guy makes Hayden look bad on the full works 2008 Honda with pneumatic valves etc

It's racing mate. Rossi went "off road" big time. No way was that intended

absolutely agree - just from his perspective of events think it would be difficult for stoner to read the full story

and also agree he can be a moaning ****, never the less he is fully commited every corner every race and seems to put more effort into keeping the ducati on the track than everyone else

obviously rossi's skills is in part that he makes the whole thing look controlled and smooth:thumbup

Totally agree with your comment BS...'That is indeed racing' Rossi does make things look easy, but he was just reclaiming the bike ...the move was no way intentional that i could see. Young Stoner is a great rider, but his maturity is still to follow. There was no justification for a whinge...agreed. Top race regardless of outcome. :thumbup

Not a fan of Stoner at all but You have to agree he is the only bloke out there right now that can ride a Ducati. And bloody hell he rides it well. He crashed and got back on and came in second:eek:

Yes mate..with the Ducati he has definately got a handle on the bike & rides its arse orf....saying that he still lacks the consistancy with his riding.

As for picking the bike up and riding on...us aussies r tenacious...some would say stubborn :biggrin among other things...but mate...its that convict streak in us! :pirate

Stoner did shake his hand on the podium .
I personally think because Rossi is so popular , stoner will always be cast as a bit of a villian .

Rawly

I agree was a cracking race, did prove one thing, rossi is a much better racer than stoner, but then again I don't really rate stoner as a racer I just think he's brave and has pure faith in the technology on the machine, also he's to arrogant.
Mind you I can't help but think that rossi suckered him into making the mistake which made him come off, which in my opinion is a classy bit of racing and goes to prove that there is no substitute for experience.
Stoner needs to mature and drop the arrogant attitude, then maybe he can learn from a proper racer like rossi.

I hear you there BS. He's an awesome rider and the only one to get his head and balls around that Duke. Titanium conker kudos to the lad. Maybe it's just a maturity thing and he's been on a right winning roll, fastest all weekend, breaks the track record and maybe was expecting an easy time of it.

Rossi cranked up the pressure come the race and was having none of it, and beat him on experience there imo. Must be hard for Stoner to work his balls off and not get the recognition he no doubt deserves, but with someone so popular and as big a character as Rossi is, then Stoners gotto carry on doing what he's doing and win the crowds respect and admiration.

It won't help his cause having a paddy in the paddock much though. Anyone betting on a Rossi/Biaggi fisticuffs pre podium spat by the end of the season? :eatcorn

This is what i meant by he needs to mature...endure and prove consistancy....in time i hope young arrogance turns to humility & realize that if anyone, Rossi is a man that he can learn real racecraft off.

Cracka of a race :thumbup The better & smarter man won!

Stoner needs to "harden the **** up"

But: I guess when Rossi said every pass was a clean one, it was open to interpretation :laugh

Rossi and Burgess play down overtaking accusations

The winner of the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, Valentino Rossi has expressed his delight with a first Laguna Seca victory and denied accusations of overly-hard overtaking.

In the aftermath of a first Laguna Seca victory -and some criticism from Casey Stoner of the overtaking moves used to obtain it- both racewinner Valentino Rossi and his Crew Chief Jeremy Burgess were quick to play down any accusations of foul play.

`The overtaking was just like the old days,´ said Rossi after the race, having engaged in a back-and-forth tussle with Stoner up until the Australian came unstuck and suffered a light crash. `I was very strong in braking, and so I tried to attack. I am sorry that Casey thinks some of them were a bit strong but I really don´t agree; I passed only on the brakes, I braked in the same places every time and we never touched. Of course this was an aggressive race, but it was definitely a fair one.´

Rossi´s right hand man Burgess further brushed off the accusation of over-stepping the overtaking mark, stating that: `I think that if Casey had raced in the 80´s and 90´s with Kevin Schwantz, Wayne Rainey and Mick Doohan, then he´d have seen that kind sort of thing every week. It might not have been what he was expecting; probably expected to win the race easily as he had dominated in the practices.´

One particularly tight manoeuvre came at the Corkscrew on lap three, with Rossi nearly coming a cropper on the sharp descent as his tyres hit the gravel. The Fiat Yamaha rider forced Stoner to sit up after coming back onto the track, and acknowledged that he had been let off lightly by the treacherous turn.

`The Corkscrew was a great overtaking spot!´ smirked the World Championship leader. `Sometimes it´s possible to make a mistake there, but the gravel had good grip!´

Rossi´s victory helped him to extend his lead at the top of the World Championship standings to 25 points, with Stoner now the second placed rider in the classification.
