Fuel injected bikes started to become mainstream in the early 90's (Though the first mass market fi bike was the Kawasaki KZ1000G in 1980...) - it was early 00's when carbed bikes were pretty much killed off for good due to tighter emissions regulations.

Nah, the Tuoldos were injection too, though I have a feeling you may be right about the manual choke..

not a choke in the true sense, just a fast idle.

nice fer when yer need both hands off the bars to light a *** and such....

Actually the Tuoldo has a fast idle on the right hand side of the engine and a cholke on the left hand side of the handlebar which is in fact a proper choke Garry. Kinda confused me a bit when I had it going from an 07 plate Gixxer and 56 plate BMW R1200S to a 53 plate Tuoldo with choke.

Mind you the fast idle is a godsend as it means if you get it at the right revs at idle its virtually unstallable (think I might have invented a word there).

PS I reckon the last modern day sportsbike which had cars was probably the ZX9R. Correct me if I'm wrong lads

The "fast idle" on the Tuoldo is the slide on the left handlebar, which is for starting.
The gizmo on the right of the engine is the idle speed adjuster.

Really thought it was a choke. Seems a bit pointless having a slide fast idle adjuster on the handlebar and one on the side as well doing exactly same job

They aren't quite the same. The slide one is the "choke" actually sets the throttle for starting. You don't use choke with Fuel injection in the same way as you used to with carbs. The one on the motor is your tick over speed adjuster, it can be used for faster idle, but isn't intended for that purpose.

Ah right makes sense that. So the slide on the left hand side of the bar is like holding your hand at a constant position on the throttle then is it?
