My carbon mudguards, front and rear are not looking their best anymore. I seem to remember someone mentioning something about fine sanding and some kind of acrylic sealant. Can anyone refresh my memiry and put some names to this products? Please!

I've done it with carbon bits on an old TVR with good results. I sanded all the laquer, top clear top coat or whatever it was off with some 800 grit and even sanded down in to the carbon weave to remove some gouges. Looks like you've ruined it at first but wipe it over with some thinners and you can easily see how you've done. It's pretty hard to bugger it up actually. I just clear coated it with some rattle can laqueur and got a finish just as good as the orginal factory one. It was still holding up well 2 years later and they were all external parts subject to quite a battering from the elements and road debris (or pedestrians to give them their proper title).
I was genuinly suprised what good results could be had.

Hi Stefano, it was probably me as I remember mentioning I had done mine at the Kent ride out. All i did was remove them from the bike and use some 600 wet and dry in the sink with water and washing up liquid. I then gave them a few coats of ordinary acrylic lacquer. I then gave them a going over with fine cutting polish. Made a huge difference :thumbup

600 wet and dry and washing up liquid. I can find those.
Acrylic lacquer (B&Q or Halfords?).
Fine cutting polish (where do I find that?).
