on my 01 rsvr as you can see the decals have been changed.
with the decals not covering the carbon infills (shown in pic below) it seems the carbon has lost its shine.
You can just make out the nice shine of the carbon where the RSVR decals used to be on the bottom of the infill. the pic does not show it up great but in the flesh its very noticable.

Anyways, my question is is it possible to get the shine back so the old decal makes are blended in or am I looking at new infills or the cheaper option is standard decals back on

:dowhat:eek:SAND IT!:dowhat next you will be saying people sand down paint too :thumbup :lol

Yeah it looks like it had a sticker on them at the bottom.
what grit paper do you think I should use?

yea i know sanding it sucks. you could take to a paint shop if not just use 400 and 600 then 1000, and finnish it wth 2500 or 3000 wet sanding is the way to go .and you dont want to go all the way to the carbom just a nice rough up. you can check with boyler too he dose it all the time :thumbup

cheers fella, dont think I have big enough balls to do it my self so might get a mate to do it :lol

:thumbup No worries I work at a prototype shop I have a full on paint booth.it was scarry but it all turned out nice. cheers.

Have you tried T-Cut?.

My left side carbon heel plate gets scratched regularly by the heel of my boot. After a while it can look very second hand indeed.

I just take it off and T-Cut it. Usually brings the shine back to almost new. I then put a layer of Autoglym polish on it to try and stave off any further scratching but it only really delays matters slightly.

That said, if yer carbon is too far gone then yeah - rub it down with fine wet and dry and clearcoat it again. I'm thinking I might need to give up with the T-Cut and do this to my heelplate eventually anyway.

hello matey! use a real fine wet and dry sand paper with a warm water fairy liquid mix, rub down area (don't go mental!) rinse thoroughly so theres no dust/bits of crap on area. apply a nuetral t cut, leave for 15 mins plus. buff off the t cut, you will get mega results with one of those polishing mop drill attachments. i done this to a friends carbon bonnet at the weekend after repairing it. don't **** your pants if it goes hazy after sanding! the t cut brings it right back. shiny as you like!

humm got the paper and t cut so might give it a bash, jsut hate the idea of sanding it down. nothing gained if I dont bother :)

Will let you guys know this weekend. I HAVE A DATE WITH MY BIKE THIS WEEKEND AND NO KIDS OR WIFE :lol :):):)
