okey dokey, pretty sure i know this answer, but i bow to your knowledge gentlemen.

the carbon front panel looks like the previous owner has maybe had a sticker, or maybe some thinners etc on it, in a nutshell, the laq is now damaged, could this be rubbed down and new laq applied, or would this damage further the surface of the carbon..

had the panel off dave and checked it out, as that was my 1st thought, but no, just laq damage.

I don`t think it is laquered in the first place.

When doing carbon fibre you coat the mold with P.C.V. (?) glue and it will dry then a coat of resin. Allow to become tacky then start the layers of carbon matting soaking as you go.

g, one of the af1 dudes had all his factory c/f bit redone.

Might have been Windy he also got his wheels powder coated red at the same time.

I'd do a search fir yer but am feckin nackered.

The finish can be redone.

I think you rub it all down meself with sooper fine wet/dry and then put a few fine clear coats on. But I just talk crap.don't a robbo ;-]

hec yer can get two kinds of finish wae the c/f .

One is the way as yer described it, a dull finish.

Two is that they go through the process then apply an outer coat that gives the gloss finish.

If it all gets too much fir yeh G min can ah have your forks and shock. Ah ken It will clash with the gray, but I can live with it

Garry.

Get it lacquered - do both sides so they look the same.

Aldo - yes it was Windy, his bike got pebbledashed on a Scottish hoon last year.

CF isn't always lacquered - the gel coat can be left as the finish - that;s why some CF goes dull and white looking after a while.

I'm pretty sure the carbon on the T will be the prepreg type rather than a fibreglass wet lay up type, either way it is normally an epoxy type resin that is used to make it up so i'm pretty sure you could use really fine wet & dry or scotchbright pad to rub it back then spray with an epoxy type two pack lacquer on it to bring back the finish. As an alterative, you could try "PEEK" polish and a buffing mop to try and buff out the damage, i've used it on fibreglass and on plastic headlights before and it works quite well.

never mind the cosmetics...get they hose clips changed Gar min afore ye end up wi a scalded leg...

cheers for that baggy... i,m on it w/e... gonna try polishing it back 1st.

But I just talk crap.don't a robbo ;-]
