i came accross this... for a 'Y' reg RSV standard (unrestricted) can !? :confused

"fully de-restricted (Aprilia used to put great big lumps of metal from the factory when these where new which had to be removed at first service) so you still get the power but the road legal noise aswell"

is this only for the early RSV's or just someone trying thier luck !? :confused

That is not referring to coring that is just a restriction baffle Aprilia use to reduce power on bikes for the euro resticted zone, (France Spain etc)

All Uk bikes have that baffle removed during the PDI or should. Takes 10 mins with pliers.

how would you know if its present or not... mine looks like a narrow 4 pointed star when looking down from the link pipe side !? :dunno

sweet... il have another look @ the weekend... think mines even more restricted than the restricted version in the pic... lol !! :biggrin

seem to remember mine goes down to a 4 pointed star shaped 1" hole... i was quite surprised compared to the actual size of the can !?

looks like mine is restricted then... but comparing to the pic in the link above... mine seems very heavily restricted !! :biggrin

what difference does it make removing the 2 welds & baffle... anymore bhp? or just alittle more noise... or alot more noise ?? :dowhat

no or very little noise, more power, better fueling.

If everything else is unresticted the fueling will be set for an unresticted exhaust also.

oki doki... think il leave it for now... as atleast i know my bike runs fine as it is like this... i dont want to modify it until i get the bike tuned properly... incase it ends up unridable like the GP can !! :biggrin

im booked in for CO checks... i believe they should be around front cylinder 3.5% & rear 4% !? :dowhat

il get the TBs sorted too & get the TPS checked aswell... hopefully that will sort my problem !! :dunno

I found a very slight increase in noise, nothing great, just enough to give a nice rumble without getting unwanted attention. Noise levels will be no where near open can levels. I found the exhaust mod a real pig to do, so be prepared for it to take longer than 10 minutes!
Don't know about power gains, must give some benefit if only to smooth the engine running.
Hope this helps,
Gareth

how do you feel the restriction when you are driving? is it to be felt on topspeed or not able to wheelie or what?

right... sounds more tinny @ idle but same noise level... & the rev needle flutters @ idle... usually smells rich/petrol... but thats gone & smells leaner/bit like if you got WD40 on the engine... seems same below 3000rpms but definately sounds louder above & the front lifts easier... seems too rev quicker & roll ons more urgent !!

when i got home the heat from the exhaust was alot... never noticed that amount of heat before... maybe it was like that before... not sure... but it sizzled when i put my finger/spit on it... seriously hot... would hate a kid to touch it !!

hope it aint too lean... can that little baffle alter it that much !?
