Out on bike yesterday and was coming up to a roundabout from a fast dual carrageway and when i went to brake the back end started weaving about and when i went to turn in the back slid out but managed to keep on, when i stopped the back tyre was completely flat , i'de checked it in the morning and it had 36psi in, but couldnt see any signs of a puncture. took it to local garage and pumped it up and rode home slowly. checked the pressure this morning and its still got 36psi in!.
Anyone else had that? thinking it might be the valve but checked it and its not leaking also checked the outer rim to see if any dents where it could be leaking from but all looks ok. dont want this happening again so for piece of mind ive bought a new rim off flea bay this morning, but would be nice to see if anyone else has had this happen to them?

My guess it would be a faulty valve. This can happen if cheap valves are fitted by tyre fitting centres. The valve is actually forced open at speed due to centrifugal force and so releasing the air. You can fit a metal tyre valve cap with o ring seal to stop this happening.

Is part of scrutineering for racing to have valve caps for this reason spare rims would be handy, bet you sucked up some seat foam ah

metal valve caps needed fella. or sounds aswell to be the bead not seating on the rim.

2Cts have a habit of not sitting down properly

think you're right, been in garage tonight to check and when i was messing with valve it slightly kept down also i never had a valve cap on! looks like i've bought a new wheel for nothing, but the new one has polished rims and looks dead smart and i could use the old one for track days!
thanks for the replies
