Broke chip pin

Got my new exhaust and chip today!
Not fitted as was too lazy earlier. I have noticed that one of the pins on the ecu chip has broke off though. Any ideas on how to sort that out?

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but not repairable I reckon. Even if some of the pin is left attached to the chip how are you going to solder anything to it reliably without the heat stuffing the chip. It has to be 100% reliable.

Send it back to the seller for a refund.

Rob :)

Definetly send it back, if you attempt a solder it will only damage the chip or come bad at some point, these bloody bikes vibrate like hell, the last thing you need is for it to fail when your 100 miles from home :)

Had a SBK Aprilia eprom that had 2 pins broken & 2 bent repaired , has being in the customers bike 3ys now since I got it fixed ... Dude said it was easy to fix ?

I don't think it's worth the risk, I'd rather send it back if it's just been paid for or just buy another one

Thanks for the info guys.
Might hold onto it if it don't work as it's a pin on the piggy-back board and not the chip itself. So might try and find another piggy-back board if anything.

I'm not sure if all piggy-back boards are the same. You might find they are not and are chip specific.

Ah bugger.
I'll take a picture of it and see if anyone knows if I can swap it.
Any idea what would happen if I put just the cip in and not the piggy-back?

Chip that is built for piggy-back will not work without one. I'm not sure exactly how it all works but it allows the chip to be encrypted so the software/data on it cannot be copied. The stuff on the piggy-back part decrypts the stuff so the ecu can talk to the chip.

Abit like this then? :p

Now if only it came with a Kate Winslet too......

All Aprilia descrambe boards are the same.
These are more easy to repair since you don't have to worry about statics so much.
Cheers Alain

Only official Aprilia descramble boards work the same.
There may be different in layout but schould work the same.
There are other chip manufacturers who use different boards.

How would I go about fixing the broken pin on the piggy-back board?
Or does anyone know where I can get another one?
