so i thought i know ill check the valves as ive not done them yet on the millie.

rear is a treat after taking the tank off and all was well with the clearances so checked the gasket was all clean and refitted it job done.

the front is a foooking pita and it took a while to sort correct allen keys to fit the front and left side cover bolts.

they were all good so happy all is well in there :thumbup (service records said they were done at 18k but going by other things ive found i didn't believe it).

checked a few bits and bobs while it was in bits too

tank fuel line was a bit kinked so its now as it should be .

checked the eprom and i have the standard 58 one fitted so may look into upgrading this ?

cleaned and checked various connections etc and all seem fine .

put it all back together and it fired up fine after the fuel was all pressurized.

seems to run smother so i may have found a small fault without knowing :biggrin

well done , feeling of satisfaction when you do stuff like that , plus a re-assurance that everything is as it should , quite a few places avoid doing valve clearences as they rarely need doing , but hey you pay for the work so it should be done .
Have a few chips available if your interested Aprilia Evo Titanium chip , Rossi chip etc

hi eddie i have a single arrow can and sock filters on the trumpets but that's about it

here's the can and although it has a baffle its not what id call restrictive lol

what would go well with this set up ? as ive heard the arrow chip is basically a clone of the 58 one fitted on my 03 ?

what sort of money we talking here and will it be worth the outlay as the bike runs very well and i wont be doing track days etc but i do like a good clean burning engine :biggrin

Hi heres a link about the standard aprilia eproms fitted through the range , the rp58 is just a standard chip fitted at the factory

http://www.randomexploits.com/projects/ecu/eprom_history.htm

heres a bit of a right up by Dr Rossi

Hi guys,
I have been fiddling with eprom´s and the software on em.
I have compared about 10 eprom´s and the bigger part just have the original RP58 map in em.
These are sold as tuned eprom´s by Kaemna, P-line, Triton, Gianelli, MRO ect.
The reason why is because the early mille types had a Sport854 and later an A63 eprom.
These so called small valve engines would benefit greatly from the later developed RP58 eprom.
This one has a second derestricted map (wire cut) and both trim pots activated.
Aprilia a made a far better spark table and also fuelling was much more precise.
The derestricted map has the highest ignition advance used standard by Aprilia on these bikes.

This eprom is fitted in 2001-2003 models.
So you’re bike should have one.
With the secondary map activated it’s just right for open filter and open exhaust configuration.
Fuelling is ok but you might have a weak spot around 3000 rpm.
I sell adjusted eprom´s which eliminates the flatspot and cleans up the fuelling at high rpm.
It makes the bike very snappy ( a bit more spark advance in some areas) and linear throughout the whole rpm range.
It also makes it easier during city traffic.
I have several chips , i currently run a Haga chip as i have 57mm throttle bodies fitted with twin Akras and an evo air box , but the other chips are ideal for standard throttle bodies , open air box and race can

do let me know what you think after fitting ?

ive done the power commander thing on lots of bikes with mixed results so ive learnt at great expense if it aint broke dont fix it :thumbup.

the chip wont give you 20 hp but you can always get one from dr rossi for your setup. i changed mine with collectors mod so cant tell you the difference with and without the chip
