Bloody security bolts on the tank!

I never imagined that the first job I did on my shiny new Mille would involve taking a drill to her, but when I went to take the tank off, this is what I found:

I've never been so careful with a Black and Decker! I managed to get them both out with out damaging anything and they will be replaced with suitable alternatives from A2 stainless. Has anyone seen this before?

I suspect that's why the air filter hadn't been looked at in years:

I also found that one plug cap wasn't pused on and the other leads were loose in their connection to the plug caps, so I chopped a bit off each HT lead end and screwed each cap on properly. The dangers of paying someone else to look after your bike!

Yes, I did think about buying a set, but managed to centre punch the shaft in the middle of the socket and so thought the metal can't be that hard. Managed to get some of the shaft with the drill and then flattened the rest by tapping the right size torx bit in untill I could turn it.
Not a proceedure I'd like to repeat though!
