bloody clocks

thought i'd get myself off the sofa today weather looked nice, so i took the bike for a ride to matlock. on the way fuel light came on so i stopped to fill up. when i tried to restart the bike guess what? the bloody clocks reset BASTARD!!! so i didn't know how fast i was going,or what time it was( i like to know ) never mind eh! still enjoyed the ride though...i have the battery on charge when not in use is there anything else i can do to stop this??...cheers

Sounds like your battery is duff or at least is starting to fail. Do you have a volt meter that you can check the battery state and the battery charging state when the bike is running ?

Definately sounds like a nackered battery put a 14 on it and the yam solenoid.
Or even check that the brown plug is making a good conection and doeas need modding

Forgot to say I had exactly the same so went for the battery and wiring conversion that was to replace a 12 battery which was almost new but wasn't putting enough charge in now all is good:biggrin

thanks for your help mate i'll try a diffrent battery. i've had the bike 2 years but don't know how old the battery is cheers....

Long face,

Before you spend the money in a new battery.......The same was happening to mine. New battery, hooked to an optimate 3sp and still was getting clock re-setting. What I did is check whether the selenoid connections were tight enough and without any rust. One of them was slightly loose. I tightened it and put some w40 and it hasn't happened ever since. Good luck

Good advice guys, check for loose terminals and connections first then start repacing defective components.

Sounds like the battery is best its sell by date anyhow, get rid before it causes you any serious problems.
