I put a spanky new Motobatt battery on the old girl to try to sort out the hot starting issue that i sometimes get, and it seemed to work ,charging at 14v at the dash with lights on, and 13v in the battery when switched off (awesome battery by the way) Then today i stopped for a swift cuppa at Micks Burgers. A cup of tea, two **** and ten minutes later it's time to leave, so i prod the start button, hey farkin presto, "errrrp, click" reset clocks, *******!!! second press, VROOM! WTF? So i've just bit the bullet and bought a 100/150 amp solenoid from wemoto, hope this works!

At least u know you are sorted for no further starting issues in the forseeable future with this set up bud!!!

By the way I'm gonna order some of those led runnin lights you put on the front under ur nose cone I see they only come in sets of 2 is there enough room to use both of them doubled up or will the front mudguard hit em??

I reckon two might be close, i put one and it's borderline under heavy breaking, I use all but around 10mm of my fork travel so if you don't use as much you might get away with it, what about side by side?

U reckon there would be enough room to mount like that as I have no perception of how wide they are compared to the space available.......I reckon it would look good though if 2 could be squeezed in????

Yep will order sum anyways and see waht I can do..............watch out for piccies :biggrin

Oi mate...... come again....I got the same hot starting prob.....just explain the whole soleniod thing.... off to get a new batery this weekend but if I have to get something els to sort it out fully, then I will do so....but can u explain it to me a bit further!!!

The solenoid is basically an electronic switch that that allows low current to switch high current..........vehicles have these because the starter system has high current that would fry the delicate switches and thin wiring elsewhere in the loom............so when you depress the starter switch within the solenoid the low current switch closes a heavy duty electronic switch that allows current from the battery to the starter motor.......continuous use with sub standard battery will cause arcing within the electronic switch eventually burning it out ........also the 50 amp standard solenoid fitted to the gen 1 milles was not upto the job and so eventually burns out but before that happens it just slowly bit by bit deteriorates and gives you continuous bad starting thats why you should change it for a 100/150 amp solenoid PHEW u any the wiser now???

That makes a hell of a lot more sens now thanks mate!!!! Now to get off and go and look for 150amp'r to replace my poo one!!!

remember, key on wait 3 secs ..then start, if you try to early it resets stuff..and you think its the batt.
I nevr had a prob with batts or had to chanage soslenoids / uprated batt etc on my 02 mille, infact the original lasted 46k before abruptly dying.
now the v4 is another matter, it always spins longer then expected before it catches.
ck

I have fitted the 150 amp solenoid last week and 14 amp uprated cables from Killerprilia today (also fitted heated grips. )

bike is fantastic at starting now the cables made a big difference.

Very happy

The whole three scond bit I know about....my bat has done some kay's so I know it's due for a change.....the whole hot starting thing related to the solenoid I had no clue about....so that's the next thing on the list now
