Due to a stupid boy racer trying to overtake a car while i was already overtaking him my poor 06 mille could be written off :(

the bike is fully comp but just got the damage assesment back and the list is huge

nose fairing , left hand mid pannel and belly pan , clutch assembely , left clip on , left hand switch gear , mirror and indercator , left rear set , left exhaust , radiator , swingarm , seat unit , pillion peg ,left air scoop , left headlight and tank

whats the out come gonna be ?

i hope that it gets repaired as i love the bike to bits and only ever seen another white one arround

but i have been told that if it is a write off the ill only get the current market value of one .... is this true ?

the balme of the accident is his fault and 2 inderpendent witnesses say it was his fault , just pissed me off as the first thing he said was sorry i didnt see you
i asked if he heard me and he said no

what a F****r

sorry to hear about your accident mate:unhappythere are some right chimps out there ,by the sounds of the damage without looking at it ,it will probably be written off such a shame as i agree the white for me is the best looking one(before anybody starts i know mine is white but that is why it is white!)if they do, you need to f#ck them off with the first offer(unless it is good) and find the most expensive adverts for milles copy them and send them to the insurance company(if they write it off)they will offer you the least possible(normally out off a glass guide or something similiar)we have just helped a friend get £7500 back for his 06 mille which is quite good. keep your chin up mate and find another (hopefully you will get yours back)....

its almost a virtual guarantee it'll be written off, but that's not necessarily a bad thing if all the damage is cosmetic. i dunno where you are, but in the states you can buy the bike back from the insurance company...when my CBR got written off, it cost me $200 to buy it back. Then you can turn around and sell it salvage title, or part out the bits. They'll value the bike at its current value (sorry, but come on what did you expect), and cut you a check. In the case of my CBR i got a check for nearly what i paid for it (negotiated a bit, talked them up $500 by showing them ads for similar CBRs with similar mileage), bought the bike back, and then sold it for nearly what i paid for it (was bought damaged). In the end i doubled my money on the deal. :O

oh...and if you do want to sell/part it....let me know first :devious

-:banana

If memory serves me right, if the damage is more than 70-75% of the total value then it will be written off. Tbh if it was me I would see if the garage would write it off for me:devious. You know it will take ages to get the replacement parts you need. At least you might still see the end of the summer.

Anyway, are you ok? The bike is just that, a bike. Take care:thumbup

well got the price report back and its a grand total of £4258.39

i dont think they will pay that

You would be suprised mate. I had a new ZX6R back in 03. I was hit from behind by a guy doing 60mph and it caused £4500 worth of damage. The insurance fixed it and it was never the same again. Well not in my eyes.

bummer about that and hope your ok but yeah they are gonna write it off especially as major parts ie swinging arm involved, a mate who owns a garage has had a mint zx9 'written off' and the damage was purely cosmetic - he lent it to somebody and they dropped it on a kerbstone so most of the fairing was gone on one side - worse thing for him was the insurance wouldn't let him buy it back

I suppose some of us could go find said jap rider and open up his eardrums via painfull means - he will hear you then lololol

any news yet mate

Sorry to hear about your bike, hope your all right. I'd be interested in buying your bike off you as I have most of the bits to fix it. Let me know what the out come of the insure payout is and maybe we can come up with a plan. Remember the insurance company do not own your bike even when they pay out. It's yours so tell them your keeping it and will repair it yourself, dont give them the V5. That way it wont be writen off. Anyway good luck with your claim and keep me posted. Cheers. H..

just a update the assessor is coming out on Monday as the quote my local shop gave them was too high they said but i think it will be a waist of time

i just want my bike back on the road

Sorry to hear about this, the nightmare is that to ride bikes as you should you need to have not just eyes in the back of your head, a crystal ball, a praying soothsayer, a mate with extra sensory perception and a sense of humour...Unfortunately even with this lot you cannot predict what the next tw#t down the road is going to do!!! Hope you get your bike back on the road or a decent insurance payout to supplement your V-Twin addiction!

Hi, any news from the insurance company? still looking to buy if your after a new one.
Cheers.

H..

Sorry she's a write off mate, remember not to take first offer as insurance companies always stick a lowish offer in first, although my mate just wrote his TL off in France, insurance offered him £2500, he only paid £1900 for her a month before so snatched there hand off, good luck mate :thumbup:thumbup
