bike running rough

just got back from a ride and the bike is not well :no
noticed it missing and running a bit rough last week under 4k revs to the point of nearly cutting out but put it down to the baffles being out
put the baffles in, changed the plugs, cleaned air filter and checked all hoses and pipes under the tank
bike seemed to run ok for about 30 miles then started the same symptons again to the point of me nearly coming off on a roundabout when the revs dropped off and then come back in :crazy
switched off when I got back and then on attempting to start the dash went blank and just clicked for a couple of times then started with the large SERVICE warning showing.
switched off and started again no problem :dunno
HELP!!

Could be another electrical gremiln mate. Having checked all fuel/filters & baffles, kind of rules out most common things.
Is the o2 sensor ok?

I recall it conked out last year, but you got it away, did you ever find out ?

Has water got in anywhere from over enthusiastic washing it ?

Kill switch, side stand switch ?

checked everything again and thought problem had gone, however after around 28 mile it started again.
upon further investigation I found a fine oil mist around the stepper motor intake and wondered if that could be causing the problem!
going to refit the standard airbox for the trip to Scotland to see what that does.
if that doesn't work I have always fancied a V4

you could go into diagnostics and see if a fault code comes up, how old is the battery

Batt is fairly new mate and just seems odd that its an intermittent fault.
hopefully cleaning the earth may help

anyway apart from the T trying to kill me I had a lovely ride out and a cracking breakfast to boot :thumbup

few peeps out and about and Mr Plod were out in force as usual when the sun comes out :no

after a bit of digging around this morning found the stator to be goosed, sourced a replacement {cheers Tash)and now fitted alongside a new battery.
thanks to GF for the help today

Good find Mr B.

I hope you bought the blinged version of stator.

There can't be much left of the original bike by now.

Chuffed its fixed Brooksy.
By the way, did you find out who put that blob of dirty oil on the tank? :lol
