Had to go pay a guy some money for some work done on house last night. Perfect excuse to get the bike from under wraps so alarm off, key in ignition, start up procedure all normal, touched the starter button and bloody thing started 1st time scaring the life out of me cos I'd forgotten how loud it was ;).

See bet you all though it wouldn't start. Some things in life are very satisfying. Having a reliable tuono is one of them.

Lovely night, forgotten how easy it is to ride fast on the thing. Tried to take it easy but ****** it's so difficult trying to keep to 70 on a straight dual carriageway. Not the roads I usually ride as they're boring as but good to kick a leg back over it and test it before the ride out on Sunday.

I was expecting the usual .......... won`t start and has been on optimate so could be solonoide or battery .

Go buy bigger battery/solonoide etc. ,clean the starter button.

Nice one matey , mine starts all the time ........original battery (4+ years old) no optimate.

Still on 12v battery not 14v. Is kept on optimate though and garaged with a cover on but I still think I'm lucky not to have any problems with it.

Aye Bay min..yer gifted right enough.

......an git that lack o avatar sorted oot will ye!

I was about to say there is no hope of leaving mine without an optimate on, and getting it to start after 7 weeks!

My battery isn't the best (only reaches 11.8V max), no alarm but after about a week it creeps under 11V and won't start. Don't leave my optimate on all the time as no power to the shed, so I make sure I ride it after a gap of about 4/5 days and then it's fine.

As yours is on an optimate permanently I'd expect the bugger to start, but yes there have been so many posts on here with problems starting.

Mine wouldn't start a while ago after I washed it, but started first time the next day. Didn't like getting wet.......;)

Mr pedantic here, all bike batteries are 12v, ( unless you got a 50 year bike that had 6v electrics) . Standard Tuono batteries are 12v 10 Ah , people upgrade to 12v 12Ah.
Ah being Ampare Hour or how much lecky the battery holds.

Was reading about that battery upgrade in Performance bikes the other day.Was wondering whether it would cure my low voltage to starter diagnostic warning light that keeps coming on if I turn the ignition on with the side stand down. What does the Tuono Doctors think. or is it just one of the joys of owning an Aprillia.
P.S tried the ignition on off, wheel bike forwards & backwards whilst chanting tuono, tuono, tuono on a full moon butt naked with a dead cockeral & sacrificial virgin. but that never worked either.:banghead

Aye tricky159 you're right. What I meant was mine has an original battery not an upgraded one. My mistake on the voltage

Whit the fecks wrang wae yer batteries. I've got an 08 factory fae new. It has never been on any kind of charger whitsoever and it never fails to start even effter a 2 month lay off during winter
