Ok if any1 has read my bits on the dash light colour change sticky .......here is what I went for today.............got me frosty jacks cider bottle which is blue plastic
I took the clocks off but found it dosn't tell you that the multiplug at the back of the clocks has a tab at the top that needs to be depressed as you remove it.......I spent ages trying to easeit out and in the end took the top clock cover off and then you can see it and access is much improved as in the sticky but I did not want the strip led's fitted so I bought some t5 blue led twisty dash bulbs to try, they needed slightly altering to fit but it was only th grind off the top tabs a little with the dremel, as they wouldn't fit through the originalo holes.
Next bit is not described in the sticky so here goes..........
Ok carefully removed the right hand lcd screen then took out the orange filter at the back from the surrounding rubber you need this piece to get the size for the blue plastic to cut outta the bottle
Once cut to same size as the orange filter make sure it is clean and free from any imperfections like creases etc. as these will show up when backlit otherwise........once you have cut the rectangle out of the bottle it will be curved put the concave side to the in first so you flatten it as it slides in the surrounding rubber edges this bit is very fiddly but you want a tight snug fit take ur time and don't force anything make sure the rubber edge has held the plastic all around.
Once that was done I tried it with the normal incadescent t5 bulbs with the orange cover caps removed but the screen was not very blue at all.
So I put the modified blue led t5 bulbs in and put it all back together and this is what I now got very please with that :biggrin
I think it looks quite funky and different having the 2 different colours..............I also hope now my clocks won't get all fogged up as some muppet in the past had the clocks apart and snapped the bottom four mounting screws so it would never seal properly......anyways sorted that too so hopefully it is now water tight.
Also did my akro can this avo as it was blowing out of 3 rivets at the base strap.
I didn't think there was any packing in it and I was right whatever ***** cut the can down just ripped most of it and left part of a rivet in there rattling around:jack
so got some loft insulation (must be recycled glass fibres) and repacked it....... place some thin wire straps around the packing to keep it in place
then ease it into the can bit by bit till you get to the end....straighten up the baffle by stickin yer finger in the tailpipe and push it home line up the holes and rivet back together.......its a bit quieter now as the packing kinda absorbs the echo the void creates although still a lot louder the the original that I tried out earlier........lonner you were right can hardly hear the bloody thing:thumbup
