Hi Everyone

Im looking at changing the gearing on my 09 tuono for better acceleration and smoother ride around town.
what gearing is everyone running / any suggestions ??
many thanks
Tony :yes

I run 15-40 but don't do much town stuff, others seem to prefer 15-42 and claim it smooths out the low end lumpiness.

16~40 not good (over geared imo, crap round town and i rarely used 5th or 6th on a run)
15~40 better (feels much better for a small outlay, puts a spring in yer step)
15~42 best (better round town, now use the full gear ratios and it pulls like a train)

only thing I would add concerning smoothing out the ride at low speed is to get someone who knows what they are doing to balance the throttle bodies correctly.

Griff did mine and fitted a 15T front kept the standard rear and the difference was brilliant

He also change the map from 1 to 2 even with standard cans it makes a difference

15/42 works fur this loon :thumbup....made a big difference tae the low speed stuff

There wiz one loon on here tried 15/44 as weel but ah cannae mind who or how it worked fur him

Wasnt it Dan Rico. He did it for a track day didn't he and people said it might put too much of a starin on the chain. He never was that in love with the T though and sold it to go back to a superduke didn't he

Cheers Guys an thanks for the advice, Looks like its gunna be 15 / 42 then. :yes

15/43 here, works best for NYC traffic, and fifth and sixth gear still allow me to go as fast as I'll ever need to.

15/40 at the moment works well for me , if ya go 15/42 i think the wheel would be skywards alot ,might try one day or would like to ride a bike with that gearing(any offers)?

I think I'll give the 15 42 a go when a need to change the chain set.

I had the 15 / 42 combo on mine breifly , took the 42 off and put the 40 back on after about 300 miles. Great fun but too much hard work for the twisty stuff am far smoother and possibly faster ( but still slow ) with the 15 / 40 set up ? It`s not like they`re short on torque so 1 tooth off the front does it for me .

All personal choice , try it and give it a shot ,the sprockets only just over £ 20 i think and half an hour to change :thumbup

Hi All,

Only just got my Gen 2 which has 16/42 gearing. Just been to the TT and struggled to keep the front down on the mountain climbs under hard exceleration but couldn't pull top gear for more then a few seconds. I was going to change 16 to 15 but now think this will only make things worse - What do you all think??

Ta

15/40 works for me . pretty smooth round town , 100 mph at 6k in top . front wheel still lifts with an enthusiastic right hand , which is most of the time
