Hi all,

First post here. I've just bought a 2010 reg Tuono 1000 R and would like some advice and feedback on aftermarket exhausts. I'm a bit tight so don't want to splash out £800-1000 for a pair of brand new carbon/titanium Akras. But it looks like most offerings can be picked up in tidy condition from £200 to £400 on the used market. Not all that fussed how they sound (they all sound good!) or how they look, or indeed what they're made from (carbon/titanium/stainless all fine); performance is top of the priority list. So, price differences aside, what is generally considered the best of this lot:

- Akrapovic Road legal
- Aprilia Racing Titanium RSV
- Arrow Tri-oval Titanium
- Leo Vince SBKs

Other suggestions welcome, ideally those more common in the UK/Europe. Also considered a pair of Termignonis from a Duke with some custom link pipes, but that would probably end up costing a fair bit more for no real benefit other than novelty.

Thanks, Alex.

Furyous.

Nob has probably tried every type available, but my 10p worth would be either;
The Aprilia Ti cans - which can be picked up for feck all from Ebay because they look just like stock, but work a treat, these are what I have fitted. They are well loud, and I really like the sound.
Or
A set of the Akra slip on's again lots on EBay because the 07 bikes were sold with a free set. - usually about £400

Imho, the Aprilia Ti's sound the best. I prefer the carbon look on my bike though. I would take my time and look out for your bike with different cans on. Google images is pretty good or Photobuckit.

Little things matter for me, like I hate the size of the outlets on the usual Akras, thats why I never bought any. If I get time and I'm in the right frame of mind over winter I'm gonna get some Ape Ti's and put a carbon sleeve over them. Been thinking of doing that for ages.

I have the Mivv GP cans on my 10 plate Tuono, in titanium (they do carbon too). They are a fair bit shorter than stock (and most aftermarket cans - Akras, Arrows, leo Vince etc) which I think gives a more modern look to the bike. They are loud with the baffles in, but not unsociably so in my opinion. They are very light too. Deffo worth a look at under £500 new with warranty.

Thanks for the replies gents.

Those MiVV cans do look good, but a bit more than I want to spend even with the discount (warranty is a little redundant on exhausts IMO, especially when choosing between brands already very established for their excellent build quality). There are a multitude of alternative brands that would make something that look close to identical to the MiVVs for £300 (Blue Flame/MTC/Carbon Can Co etc. etc.), and probably be little different in construction.

I'm especially interested in the Akras and the Aprilia Titaniums since I know they've both been designed and extensively tested specifically for the RSV in terms of performance, and aren't just generic designs fitted with appropriate link pipes and fasteners.

As it stands, I'm 'leaning' towards the Aprilia Racing cans, especially if I can find a pair at an affordable price. If there's no reason to pay more for the same or less (looks aside), then I'm not inclined to do so.

p.s. Gilo - love the look of your Tuono. The shock hasn't gone un-noticed.

Furyous - cheers! Yeah, I did about 400 miles on the soggy under-damped pile o' ***** standard shock and bought a secondhand Ohlins off ebay. It needs setting up properly for my weight, I've improved it a lot but it's not quite there yet, but is well worth the money, not least for the fact that it actually has decent damping.

Like your white T a lot. I had a choice of two, black or white & blue. If the other had been white it would have been a harder decision.

Interesting plate placement!!! Are you keeping it there? Seen that positioning on a lot of American bikes on US forums, but rarely over here.

I've got Leo Vince SBK cans on my T.Quality is good and they sound fantastic.
Got them off an Italian dealer on Ebay.Just under £400 delivered.

I bought Pipewerx stainless cans for £250 a pair off e-bay ... new

Have a look at Youtube

search for "exhaust change aprilia"

My posting is "Aprilia Touno Pipe-Werx exhaust change"

Clip shows standards, new with baffles in and new with baffles out

Bike running on map 2 and sounds splendid with baffles in

If your on a budget then try beowulf exhausts , had a pair on my 07 gen 2 , sounded great and they were £280 a pair i think with a lifetime guarantee !

I don't find the standard shock all that bad, I had a Falco in the past, and that was bad. But it's on my to do list if/when a tidy Factory shock comes up on ebay.

Think you made the right choice on colour. Not so keen on the blue/white as it's a glossy finish. Much prefer the matt black and white colours of the 2008+ models. Was a tough choice between the black and white, would have been happy with either.

I've got that plate there, it's just a sticker I had made up. But I also have the standard plate and bracket for long journeys when it might draw a little too much attention.

Pipe Worx and Beowulf are options, though they're not quite so cheap any more. But I have no great desire to buy them new so if I can get a better set of used cans for the same money than I'd prefer to do that.

Allways Arrows for me on aprilias , that number plate looks well placed , I like lotts , but is it leagle ! under there like that
