I've decided to to push the boat out and throw caution to the wind and splash out on a new battery.

The bike and battery have been sitting in the garage over the winter and without any heating in the garage I simple don't trust it to last another season.

Reading the numerous threads on the subject it seems that the YTX14BS is quite a popular grade (please feel free to disagree). Is there a particular brand that would make a difference or are the same grade batteries all the same?

Where do you good people go to get your batteries?

How easy is it to fill a battery with the gel packs? I have visions of spilling the stuff all over the place and covering my hands with sulphuric acid?

Cheers:thumbup

Go for the battery with the highest specification you can afford.

Westco Motorcycle Battery

Varta LF 510 012 (YTX12-BS)

Westco from Tanya is unbeatable for quality/value.

However, I'm a cheapskate fooker and bought a Numax off Ebay for £30 and it's great value for money.

It'll be dead in just over 16 months so I'll feel much better knowing I saved loadsa money. LOL

But then you'll have to go buy another :confused buying cheap gear aren't you risking premature failure :dunno false economy imo :nana

If it goes in under 12 months then it's warranty so they'll pay.

Anything past 12 months is a bonus in my books!!

I've been down this route before and TBH I'd rather have the money in my pocket than tied up in an overpriced battery.

Fair enough, each to their own i guess :thumbup

I keep my bike in tip top condition Sprocker and I always buy the best I can afford. However, with batteries I've done the £90 battery route and it lasted no longer than the previous £40 special.

Once bitten twice shy I suppose.

PS. I always bin my batteries at the first sign of an issue, cheaper than fooking about with a sprag.
