I’m 56 and I’ve had so many bikes over the years it’s hard to count…mostly Japanese……..mostly fast Japanese sport and dirt bikes. Japanese bikes are totally awesome! Then several years I rode a Ducati. I’ll never go back to a Japanese sport bike. There is more to riding sport bikes than simple pure acceleration. Recently I had an opportunity to return the 2007 RSVR I purchased in February for a full refund. The dealer totally screwed up the title taking months to sort out. In the end I decided to keep it even with all the bizarre idiosyncrasies inherent to this bike. Why….I love riding it…I love looking at it…..I love listening to it…..I love polishing it My commute involves a ferry ride….all the bikes load first……some times 20+ bikes….all makes and models. Yesterday (no lie) two ferry workers walked over and asked me to rev the engine. I thought they were kidding but they were serious………I rev’ed the engine….they smiled, shook their heads and walked away. They singled out the RSV as different……perhaps even special……because it is.

Many of the younger guys might not understand this………but, I’ve worked forever……..Italian sport bikes and their inherent reliability weirdness is my small reward…..perhaps even a sense of accomplishment because when I press that little starter button………………life is good.
The only thing missing………..is other RSV riders. I envy you “blokes” in the UK…….the sport bike community there sounds amazing!
