Guys, I have been out for a while as I had to urgently come back to Australia and left my poor bike in a garage in Sutton for 2 years.

I got it here now and I buggered if i know how to work this thing again. I need your advice as it is turning over but not kicking into life.

After the two year lay up and the long journey from SE England to Australia I did the following:
- let it sit for about a month while I worked on my boat (don't ask...its a lot easier where I am to find mates to fish with than to ride with)
- drained the fuel and filled with fresh 98 octane
- changed the oil and oil filter
- changed the spark plugs
- put a new Katana (yuasa) YTX 14 BS in

Starting procedure is:
- Making sure the alarm is deactivated (I have a laser line 860 alarm system with two buttons which i just press once for on (two flashes) and then once for off (one flash))
- turn it to on
- watch as the tacho pin goes up to 6000 sits for a while then comes back down (i have a vague recollection I need to do something when the taco goes up to max although i am not sure)
- Hold the clutch in
- Choke on full
- start it

Lights that are coming on are
When switched to on
- Oil
- low fuel (then turns off)
- Digital read out says "Service"

I remember changing the solenoid to the higher amp one as I had some electrical troubles before (cutting out). this seemed to fix it.

Turns over but no start. I am struggling a bit here and really not too sure where to go from here.

Thanks for your help

how can you change oil without the machine being started? all the **** is settled down so you want to drain it out by draining the oil when warm and mixed with the dirt.
anyway its no magic. you just put a charged battery enable the choke and you start it.
yeah and changing things then wondering why it is not starting is also a bad idea.
if it really wont start the standard way i would suspect the spark plugs change as the reason for not starting

assuming you dont have a fault?
the battery will need to be fully charged for a start as you wont have a hope in hell lol

when you crank the bike it will need some throttle as these bikes flood quick.

when you get it poping ie excess fuel clearing and engine starting keep at it till it fires up then back of the throttle asap

once its been running any crap fuel should clear from the fuel pipe as i doubt you drained that?

Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on, when i lift the fuel tank up on mine where the wires dont have alot of slack, it pulls the connector under the seat apart,no start, plug it back together, all is good, mine is a gen 2 dont know what yours is though. Good luck with it.

injectors mate, sounds like gelled up from sour fuel, even the best fuel with stabliser wont last

Yeah, i am not hearing the fuel pump wind up. I ill have a look at it tonight. I can't see any pulled connectors anywhere though. I hope its not the injectors. I imagine that would be a fairly big job.

well theres lots of things to check before you go buying a pump!!

stand wiring pump wiring for starters and then any other dodgy dirty connectors

definitely the fuel pump wiring. I got the pump to prime when connected directly to the battery so its working. I have been fiddling around with the wiring for a while trying to get it to work but no luck so far. No voltage at the connector closest to the pump and none at the relay. changed the relay out for the one next to it and it didn't help either. Any other suggestions?

if you have a look at the stand switch wiring under the tank where the connector is by the fuel line.

then disconnect the plug and join the 2 outer wires if theres 3 or both if you have 2 and see if the pup primes?
you dont need to cut any wires simply make a jumper or splice so you expose the wire and then use a scotch lock etc or a small wire to join .

my stand switch wiring was foooked and caused the pump to shut off as it all goes via the safety cut out system.

stand switch clutch switch and the bank angle sensor switch or fuel cut off or bike down switch as also called nxt to the battery.

so if your pump is not running and does work its going to be one of these items or its wiring causing the issue .
