Battery Problems?

Hi guys,
I've had my 2005 RSV1000R for a little under 6 months now, i usually ride it every day for at least 30-40 miles.
I gave her a week off for maintenence, went to the garage to start her up after i was happy she was tip-top, but nothing...
It was turning but not catching, i assumed it was a dead battery and tried to charge it, but when i went back to her the next day, i turned the ignition, all the lights came on, brake lights, horn worked, but no indicators. It didn't even bother to turn and i'm now worried about the alarm on it.
This is the second time it's happened and as i say i've only had it 6 months.
Could this be a more serious problem than what i think is a battery related issue?
Thanks for any suggestions in advance :thumbup

If you've not had any problems when you were using the bike daily it would tend to suggest that the problem is something to do with either the battery or the charging system.

Searching the forums may also assist with other suggestions. If you're bike has an alarm a good starting point is to purchase an Optimate or similar. The RSV being a big V-twin really takes some power to turn over so the battery needs to be kept in tip top condition.

There has been a recent thread regarding battery/starting problems that you can find HERE

Have a good Xmas and welcome to the board.

What maintenance did you do to it....did you unplug anything

Make sure the battery terminals are tight

make sure you have 12.80 volts at the battery terminals....dont use the dash volt indicator

Im not sure as to what stage that you have got to by no, but I had the same problem weeks ago, I didnt have an optimate and had to DC the battery and then Change batteries. This had the effect of semi tgripping the Immobiliser. As to which there is a process to get this reset before you are able to restart the bike..

This worked for me,...

Laborius I know!! Hope t helps

Sound like an alarm issue to me as well. If you have dash lights and horn etc... but no indicators then as your alarm is connected to the indicator circuit it makes sence for the two to be linked. When you turn on the ignition does your fuel pump whirr?

Yeah everything seems to be normal (all the right sounds!) when i turn the ignition apart from no indicators and no engine start!!
