my batter needs a bit of tlc but my bike lives too far from my house to run a charger to it,,,,what i want to know if i take the battery out of the bike and charge it indoors will anything nasty happen to the dash without the batter connected????

will reset back to KPH and revert the shift light back to 6000rpm.

Nothing other than that though.

Why not use a second hand car battery. (good one)
Jump it to your bike battery with Bike Type jump leads. Leave in place.

i live in the isle of man,,,,,you got any idea how little sun we get here,,,,lol
damn good idea though,,

Hi Weejock, like you my garage is too far away, so I have for the last 2 winters taken the battery out and shoved it into the basement on an optimiser. When re-fitting I've had no issues at all, the speedo remains at MPH and the rev limiter did not reset. The only fiddly thing is resetting the clock.

hi weejock it would still work if you could just leave it in a window and you can just plug it into your optimate lead if you have any problems getting one i know white arches caravans nn10 6ay sell them about £25 tho the other idea with the car batt sounds good ?

Of course it does. :yes
And it works very well. As the car battery will hold its voltage for a number of weeks.

I made up some Bike battery jumper leads with Croc clips on each end, my mates all have them. They will also act as Jump start from another bike.
Fit uder sadle easy.

I would just take the battery out and indoors. Doesn't take much effort to reset everything on the dash :dunno
