Just fitted a new absorbant glass matt battery, it lasted all of two weeks before it didn't have the guts to spin the engine, without the voltage dropping and resetting the clocks.
What brand of batteries are you guys fitting with success.

You might want to take a look at the starter relay. I have heard that they can be notorious for failure and make starting nigh on impossible. The common fix is to replace it with a like for like Yamaha part that is more reliable and helps the bike kick over first time. If you search the AF1 forums you will find volumes on the subject plus the part number.

I left my T for about two weeks and even though the battery had been kept charged up the bike wouldn't start, I ended up having to jump it off the car. I'm not totally sure it's all relay related but I have ordered the part from Yamaha just to see if it helps - I don't want to get stranded somewhere in country Victoria!

Doc, the yamaha starter relay number is: Part number. 4KD-81-940-00 100A
It's a straight swap and a 10 minute job.

Thamks bob, Deyago it sounds to be the battery if you needed a jump. A fresh battery had mine starting fine. Have you looked at taking the brown plugs out of the equation as they cause charging problems. Going to do mine soon.

Could be, I also considered that the relay was stuck and needed a bigger charge to close it. The battery had been on a charger so it wasn't flat. I'm changing the relay to the Yamaha item to see how that goes.

What brown plugs?:dunno
