Baglux Tank Covers

What are peoples thoughts on these fitted to the RSV's. I can make up my mind to put one on my 04 or not.

I have a bag that can clip straight on for practical reason, but do they spoil the look of the bike?

Dan

Kinda down to your own opinion m8.

I use my bike to commute to work a lot in the dry season, so to that end I have an Oxford Sports Humpback tankbag that I use, the type that has the removable base and zips to the tankbag, rather than magnets. Didn't want to risk scratching the tank as I've used a magnetic tankbag on previous bikes and no matter how careful you try to be, it always ends up getting scratched.

The base for the Oxford is pretty much permanently attached to my Mille and I don't think it spoils anything "looks wise", but then again, it's not as large as a Baglux cover.

You can see it on my tank in the pics in my Garage thingy.

I sorta like it on the 02 mille, it gives you more grip on the tank and a place to put a (V small ) tank bag, it also protected the tank from the leathers.I got rid when I got the CF tank, wanted to show it off.!
cheers

I think their tank cover/bag system is brilliant, and they do try to style them into each bike. I've got one for my VFR (sorry, I apreciate this ain't no RSV). It also helps with gripping the tank, as it offers a nice slightly padded, griipy leatherish surface - if that's an issue worth considering for you. However, I think their bags are crap, which is a shame. Only my opinion though - best to check one over before buying if you can.

i have one on my 07 rsv and had one on my 51 zx9r. they are the nuts look good protects the tank and makes taking a tank bag a breeze.

Just ordered one for my 04. As well as a full set of R&G protectors. The credit card is getting murdered this month!!

It is certainly very practical. I used to have one in my FZ6 which i used to use it everyday, like the RSV now. Bear in mind that whenever it rains, the water stays in the foam in the inner part of the cover and will permanently keep the tank wet unless you take it off everytime it gets soacked (which I doubt you will) and dry it. I don't know how this can affect the paint, for the tank itself it shouldn't be a problem as it is not metal. Anyway, just wanted to let you know.

Just had a look, but the bike is grey and I want an exact match,

Thanks,
Dan

on the subject of baglux, does anyone have a design or minea bag who is local to the essex area. in the process of buying a bag but can't decide which one. tried an alpha leading edge digs into the chest too much. tried the new minisign, not too bad, doesn't interfer with my chest, but is slightly smaller than i want. not looking for a large bag as i use seat bag and panniers, but would just like to try a couple before i decide to go with the minisign.
many thanks lads:thumbup

KRIEGA R35. Expensive but everyone praise them. Have a look in internet. I've bought one myself for a 1500m trip but haven't used it yet. It's got a unique anchoring system which is supposed to take the weight off your back and distribute it in a way that it doesn't interfere with your riding and you don't notice the weight. 5 years guarantee by the way.

Cheers for the reply sergi75, however i will leave the wearing of rucksacks while riding motorcycles to you. if i am involved in a accident the last thing i want any near me is a rucksack. i have seen some horrendous photos of injuries inflicted by them. thanks anyway:thumbup

Have to admit I am with you on the rucksack accident thing. My bag would have enough in to cause me some real harm

On the other hand the rucksacks look excellent pieces of kit,

Dan

I always wear a quality back protector. Also you have to think what you put in your rucksack and how you put it. I have to agree though that the safest is not to wear them. Thanks for the advice.

I second the Kriegas, we all use them on long trips now, no aches(on a 1900 mile trip to mugello), puts all the weight on the chest, you dont even notice it, waterproof liners and no ballet trying to get yer leg over a tail pack.Or have tail packs tilt off bike and cause stability issues.I have crashed in one full of camera gear and me and the bag/cameras survived. I have both the 25 and 35's.best bike sacks you can get and after all you dont really need /want to carry much, justenough to get by.
