HOLY S**T

but i havent been anywhere near them with brake fluid so how do i get this damage?????

new fork legs needed i think

Does look strange and can't even come up with a good guess to help :dunno

well...iv asked a few people what they think and no one has a definate cause,im in two minds what to do....do i fill it with chemical metal, sand it down and spray it or replace with a good s/h one from the breakers????.

Personally I'd go the repair route. If you change the fork you'd have to change them both and that sounds like a fair bit of cash even from a breakers. If it's only cosmetic and you can hide it, that's what I'd do.

Sorry for you GINGA, could it be the front fender rubbing on it ? You could alway's try to repair it, if it does'nt come out right well... Saw a set on fleabay a while ago.

Hi, Maybe this will help, you could turn the tube around so the scratch is facing the tire, you only need to slack the bolts holding it on the triple clamp.Dont forget to unload the front end first. Cheers.

DROUIN, yep i think i will turn the fork leg around, after i've repaired the leg.to hard up at the mo to replace it.as for the 208s,ive never had any real worries with them.i know alot of people dont rate them and i will change them as soon as i can get some money together.so how about the qualifers, are they any good ??

I have never worn these Dunlops... But the local shop keeps on telling me they are the 'best tyre for V-twins' although they also tell me my 2CT's are crap... I use 2CT's on my RSV and my TLS... and they rock:doug

I gather a few dudes here have used these with much distain....

F

Flick, the mechanic at my dealer doesn't like 2CT's either. Recently had them fitted and LOVE the feel of them. As they have quite a triangular profile I think that's what puts some people off them as they do drop into corners more noticeably. Personally, I like that feel.

Dave 2cts were on my tyre shortlist, but now they are not...im one of those people who just does'nt seem to get on with a tyre that has a triangular profile,i prefer a more rounded profile.to be honest it just scares the sh*t out of me when it just drops into a turn....

As I don't have a camera at the moment I need to use this thread picure. Basically cleaning my bike today I discover my left fork looks a bit like the picture . The corrosion is located exactly at the same place although the corroded surface is smaller. Does anyone know what can I use to refill and stop the corrosion :dunno? I have no idea what caused it but I think is fixable so I'm not considering get another fork for the moment. Thanks :thumbup

side note, lose those dunlops you got on there, yuck.

Tyres are a lot like Women :D , Cameron Diaz in my eyes is far too skinny and has nothing about her only a bad case of acne, in other words it takes all kinds !

I had a set of 208RR's on my ZX7R and they made me a Superbike God :D I have some round black hoops on the prilly with Pirelli Super something on and they are feel, well like tyres. :pirate

Just out of curosity, are you both with damaged fork legs both using braided brake lines, i had a very similar thing happen on a zxr400 a few years ago. When i ran my hand up and down the brake lines, the metal braiding had worn through as well.

Just a thought to check on

Beanie, thanks for your input. I did check and the outer brake lines are covered in plastic and I coudln't see any brake liquid.

NOT-

You should try my zxr in the mountains over here, she's wearing D_U_N_L_O_P gpr70's and theyr'e great, only trouble is i can ruin a pair in under 2000 miles:biggrin

Erm.....I was referring to them ON an RSV, I'm sure they are great on a lightweight 250

Guys, IMO tyres are down to a personal choice and not everyone thinks the same. I've always had Dunlops (RR's) on all my bikes inc the RSV and never had a problem on road or track. Dunlops have come a long way and are now well rated by the journo's. I'm certainly gonna try some of the newer Dunlop rubber. I know a small number of people have had a few problems with some of the older style tyres (Badger for instance) but its never happened to me.

Each to their own I reckon....and no i dont work for Dunlop and I have tried supercorsas amongst others but always go back to the Dunlops.....:nana
