Hi my name is Simon I;m new to the forum and rsv's.

I've just bought a 03 factory, it must have been pre registered as it is the 04 onwards bike.

It has got a private plate on it W3 RSV. given that it might be a memerable plate does anyone know of any history for the bike. i know this is a long shot but i only have 3 month warranty so i need to find all the problems now. lol.

So far the tards that fitted my tracker managed to wipe the mileage from the clocks.

Then riding it today it was coughing and spluttering at low revs, Running what i would say was hot 85-100c', Idle was varing and going quite low as low as roughly 800rpm and to top it off it stalled 4 times. once as i came round a slowing corner in town i pulled the clutch in to drop it a gear and it died, then twice sat at traffic lights and once more just sat on the drive as i opened the garage

As far as i am aware the bike and everything about it is completely standard including the exhausts.

Any views for any of this would be great. Have i bought a duff of are these all joys of owning your dream bike. :unhappy

thanks in advance guys

Hi mate, another Swindon lad, welcome. Can tell you for one that its common to wipe out the milage on the 04 model.

Reading some of the posts on here, it seems that year had a fault with the speedo keeping its miles when the battery is disconnected. Just keep a record of the miles for future owners. Think most people who know about rsv's just except this.

Can't help with the other stuff.

Where did you buy mate, George whites?

Get some pics up and people might know it

Hi so are you in swindon too?

Got it frome blade motorcycles they're the new part of performance triumph.

I thought that was the case with the clocks still bit of a piss take.

Yeah Upper Stratton :)

Never been in that shop, any good? might pop in and have a butchers tomorrow (Halfday yeah baby)

i have a half day too!.... p.s. im another swindon.. er... priory vale for your information ;)

It all sounds familiar to me. Bought my 04 RSV1000R a couple of months ago. On the ride home the bike cut when pulling the clutch on a slip road off the M6. Locked up and slid a wee while, still vertical thankfully. Not the best introduction i must say. This then happened on a couple more occasions before my confidence ran out. Posted like you on the forum and a remap / check up was recommended. I fired it back at the dealer under the 3 month warranty and they put it on map 2 i believe and its a different bike altogether.. ps: they replaced the battery at the same time and lost my 'genuine paperwork backed up 2000 miles from the clock'. Sounding very familiar now? Might aswell tell you about the neutral problem aswell whilst i am here cause if it is a pig to get whilst running you need to check out 'Neutral A Bit Of A Pig' in this section. Now, however i have resolved the above and hopefully the Neutral prob aswell and would like to say these bikes are addictive and grab you by the soul like no other i have ever had.. Be patient for a couple of weeks, keep on the forum for advice and life will be sorted and you will never look back.......:thumbup

Garvey I've now put pis in my garage. The shop is ok. they have victory and mv and the rest is used stock. they do seem to get some nice bikes it though.

Ollie just looked at your bike. how have you done that light mod it looks ace. did you take the headlights out or are they just covered?

I've just been for a piss in the garage to see if it helped me remember details of bikes my Aprilia dealer has in stock - only succeeded in peeing on the mower on account of the poor lighting in there :rant:rant
