Since buying my first Aprilia 01' Mille I am loving it to bits...........sorta like riding a diesel engined bike that has a lot meaner temperament!!

You cannot fault the torque available it just a real pleasure to have in all situations.........and so bar riding position....which I don't think is too sports orientated .......at 37 I think I will probs be able to get used to it .......without too much wristache!!.........just have too ride a bit faster I suppose!
My concerns now are no metal tank so tank bags are a bit limited as I am a bit old school and like to read a map!!

Got me soft tail and pannier bags coming through the post......can't wait to get out on a few trips :biggrin

Hows are you mate , well having 10 years on I gotta admit the mille is a comfortable bike by any sport bike standards . Posted not long ago about luggage and how if you go for the biggest throwovers , they looked a bit big so I opted for kriega gear . Ended up with a 30 ltr ' dry bag ' for the back of the bike and a 10 ltr to either connect to the 30 or use as a tank bag with the adapter . They are not cheap but the quality is very good and ideal for sports bike as is the ventura system .

i went to monza wsb a few years ago on my rsv
doing about 400 miles a day no problems
i used baglux/bagster tank bag system & ventura system on the rear

if you are for touring buy a RST Futura instead

same engine and frame, but Sagem ECU. much more comfort and imho even quite better looks
i cant drive my rsv for more than 200km. but i am quite big.

Couldn't really scratch up the A roads with this, the same as the mille plus the rsv looks better and you get the best of both worlds as it is placid enough for touring in my book............there seem to be plenty of peeps who tour on mille's proffs in the pudding I suppose chap...........

If the Futura has the same Frame & Engine, does the Single Sided Swing Arm also fit the Mille?

Yes it does I have seen 2 or 3 converted single sided milles there is a complete Futura rear end going on ebay for around £500 inc. the wheel and linkages..........

wow, so what am i doing wrong then? i can only manage about 100 miles before the pain sets in (wrists and back of thighs)
im only 25 and would class myself as fairly fit although im just a tad over 6ft tall.
would it be worth me investing in some adjustable rearsets so i can move the pegs down and slightly forward to help with the pain in my thighs?
any other suggestions???

Adjustable rearsets or you could go for the tuono bar conversion which will push you back a bit and take more weight off yer wrists!!
There is lots of threads on here on regarding that search them out.......

I did the falco bar conversion, bit more comfort, raising about 50mm and the aprilia performance rear sets ( tad lower for the feet.)

Thinking about the flat bar conversion.

Having 4 days in scotland 4th May with 400 mile days to see how i go before my alps trip in september. Sat on a BMW K1300s at bike show and that was perfect but too expensive for the likes of me.

I did have a R1100s for 40000 miles and on a long run I find the mile more comfortable the r1100 killed my butt

I was 29 at the time, 6ft 4 and stocky build
I had ap rear sets adjusted to suit, lower & back i think remembering
also i had woodcraft clipons on, reversed fitment which raised the bar ever so slightly
levers etc all adjusted to suit me

i have no idea what you just wrote :)

I want the best of both worlds ...........sports bike when I want it to be ...............and touring bike when I require it......simples.........and possible! :biggrin
