Any Ideas ?

Gasboy

Right ,,,i got twin Akrapovic pipes on my Edwards Mille, been advised by a very helpfull copper that i will be ticketed if stopped, coz they are for race use only (engraved on the shoulder). They really are not that loud ?

I dont want to change them, but could do without the hassle of more points ?

Any ideas ?

just get some decibel reducers mate, pu tthem under the seat ready.
Ck

Wont the copper think is a bit suspicious when your fiddling round the back of the bike when he pulls you over? lol

Polish the 'Race use' out of course. Although i do not have any on my Mille, cos the fuzz never seem bothered about my can (Devil... no baffle) on all my old R1's I had metal rivet on tags that had the EC blah number on it. Bought a bunch at a show, I am sure they are on line somewhere tho.

99% of fuzz do not know feck all when it comes to twins making too much noise. Look at those tassle wearing mincers on there Hardlys. No limits on those water pumps eh.

It's the "For Race Use Only" stamp that will help you get done. It is stating clearly that thay are NOT road legal. Just polish it out then you'll be OK.
As Flick says, they don't seem bothered with loud pipes but that stamp is taking the p*ss as far as they're concerned.

Yep, that's the way forward.....couldn't say whether my Akra is or isn't for road use but certainly doesn't have a stamp on it...thanks to an overenthusiastic polisher who owned the bike prior to myself!

Cant you buy a stamp or sticker to go over the top of the race use bit that says it's road legal?

Cool cheers I like the sticker and polish ideas, how do I polish out !! No wise cracks thanks keV ! :thumbup

polished my "not for road use" out with a dremel , you can get the right bits direct from dremel, its a 10 minute job and you would know the difference

I have a mate that after being knocked off of his bike a traffic cop looked at his bike whilst he got carted off to hospital, the traffic cop knicked him for illegal exhausts due to the fact that they were not "kite marked". This charge was some 1 year later thrown out of court......but he also learnt that e marks and BS numbers are only valid if they are stamped on the can itself...no stickers and no bands. Because his cans were not stamped he got nicked.
I think it all comes down to the cop on the day....and how you interact with him.

On another note Pete!!! you will be able to sell those cans and make yourself a few bob, ask the question on here and your inbox will fill up in seconds!

Actually smiffy has a point, if you do decide to take them off your bike I'll buy them of you :thumbup

ummmm i will try the polish route cheers gents !

can you post some before and after shots? my can's link pipe is marked for race use only and i cant be bothered to change it for an mot (yes i know its only two springs and a bolt!) and i'd be interested in the result

ok was thinking that myself ,, hope dremel kit comes with how to do !! i am thinkin rough then smooth ?

just how my misses likes it lolol

As long at it does not say anything on the cans its will be ok. Just polish them out. no EU stamping required. MOT safe too :)

If you dont want to go down that route then I will swap you my system :)

Move to Northern Ireland police dont give a flyin f*ck about exhausts, more inclined to stop you to look at the bike and rev the **** of it.

They trialed a noiseomoter type thingy here for a while and gave up, technically theres no real law regarding noise as far as I know but down to the cops discretion at the time. The most you can get is a £30 ticket for excessive noise, if you contest the ticket the cop has to prove the noise was excessive and frightened the public. The only way you can prove or disprove excessive noise is to take the bike into the court, now wouldn't that be funny :eatcorn

Obviously your law is slightly different with the road legal stamp etc
