I have managed to acquire a Sachs fully adjustable shock from a 2007 RSVR from a friend in decent nick and plan to swap the existing sachs shock on the R at the weekend just one question !

The spring on the original shock is mint whereas there is a little rust on the fully adjustable one can it be swapped over ? are they the same spring ????

Its the spring on the showa that is rubbish.
Leave it as it is, a bit rust won't hurt

The basic R sachs is pants.
The RSVR is a better option, but not brilliant.
The springs are more or less the same, not worth swapping considering the hastle.
As has already been said, a bit of rust on the spring won't hurt if you can live with it.
FWIW, save your pennies, and buy a DECENT shock (ohlins etc) and you'll nearly always get your money back if you punt it on fleabay should you seel the bike.

Cheers Tifa, the RSVR shock was a freebie so I'll give it a go for now and see what it''s like, the feedback I've had from an ex-racer is that it is a competent shock and is really splitting hairs between that and the Ohlins Factory shock if properly set up, we'll see . . .

The Sachs does not have the dampening quality of the Ohlins, and it's restricted in it's adjustment.
However, if it's a freebie, where's the harm?
Slap it in and have a play with it....it might just do everything you want.
