Coming back from Griff's this weekend ........ cruising along in the outside lane of the A1(M) .. so you get the idea of the speed travelling. Next thing some toss pot truck driver looses some logs off his lorry, straight into my lane

No chance of swerving, all happened so quickly ..... so poor old me went straight over the top of one of them ..... barstard :confused

How i stayed on ..... aint a clue but i did :thumbup

Anyhow heres the damage

My question is ....... is the front wheel fooked ( left side only damaged ) or is it possible to straighten/make good what was a perfectly good wheel?

Took me furkin ages to get hold of the non radial wheels :dunno

I reckon you might be able to get that straigtened out....................but as for calling Alan a log and riding over him !!!

Bloody hell Boyler, good save! Glad you're OK. How did you get it home? Let us know how you get on with the wheel. My (Brembo) front is missing some paint on the rim after my recent off, but I'm pretty sure that it's still straight. I'll be looking for someone to do a job powder coating it at ome point though.

Have the members of this Forum pissed off the god's recently or what, everyone seems to be droppiing like flies!

big question is did you get much air time? And did any cute chicks see you fly :thumbup

Smiffy beat me to it, why have it repaired when the insurance company will pay for a brand new wheel and tyre?

Best get both done to be on the safe side, you never know it may have caused a hairline fracture.

Glad to see you're OK though Steve.

holy smoke man!
top man for savin that one!!

yeah the wheel probably could be saved mate and dave east is the man no question ive known hime for a long time! he is the man , but like the other guys say man you gotta see if you can get the new wheel if possible!!

well done and im glad you safe lad!!

see you soon for the ride out oop north !!

Griffer!

Thanks for all the advice and positive comments gents :thumbup

It may be just the reality of whats happened thats beginning to sink in but I certainly have been affected by this.

I aint no riding loon but i do like to ride close to the limits ( aint that why we have sports bikes ? :dunno ) I seriously believe that the excess speed i was travelling at probably aided me staying upright, momentum and all that.

BUT

I've put the bike away in the garage and I'm seriously thinking about my biking future. Yeah I'll admit this has **** me up ..... big style
Now I've had one off earlier this year, partly my own stupid fault so i can handle that. This time though it is different ....... picture the scene....

150 miles on bike ( fantastic ) in glorious sunshine early Friday morning, what a buzz. Met up with Griffer who I'd had the pleasure to meet once before. Not just fantastic at what he does but also one of the nicest blokes you could ever wish to meet. Spent the day sorting and talking bikes along with Zoe and another of Griff's staff ( sorry mate forgot your name ) Alan, Craig and Smiffy. Everyone of em top persons I'm now proud to call friends.

Afterwards into town for a few beers and a good laugh :thumbup

Next morning back to working on the bikes and more mickey taking :biggrin :biggrin

Once the tasks were complete, then the journey home ....... well you know the rest.

My point ...... :dunno well from been on such a high and enjoying the bike to how i feel now .............................. not sure its worth it :confused
