Whyyyyyyyyyyy? Whhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyy????

Mate, if you want a cheap reliable tourer thats also got a great engine and plenty good enough handling, go for a honda vfr750. Bullet proof reliability and a great v4 too. Best of all you can pick em up for about a grand. Don't get the divvy its a dreadful machine in comparison!

You beat me to it Twintorque .....
Honda VFR750... great touring machine .... Handles and stops too....

You could get a cheap 600 Fazer for that - just as fast and more fun.

As another alternative, how about the 850 or 900 TDM Yam ? I rode an 850 for a while in France and they don't hang about, suspension is a bit soft till you get used to it but they are super comfortable and can really be hustled round corners as well. I had a most enjoyable time riding it.

vfr's are a bit to much money for me at mo but am liking the tdm idea and they look half decent as well ;-) ... off to ebay for me ............................

One of the lads on the `blade forum has just bought a VFR as a so-called winter hack, but he already LOVES the thing, and is modding it already.

He IS keeping the `blade, BTW.......:devious

Kawasakiinit: Just as a footnote mate, when I was biking many moons ago, we were all on R1s, blades, gixers......you name it, and one of the lads used to turn up on a VFR750, and honestly, on the road, he used to clear off at will, as he was THAT GOOD a rider, but obviously, you still need a good bike to do it on.

In essence, get the viffer if you can run to one, they`re an excellent bike ! :thumbup

owned one and what a good machine but you have to carry a spare plug with you as they can foul one and that means no go
buy the way been across europe on one two no problem:thumbup

Another thumbs up here for the viffer 750, I loved mine.

As long as there is something wet in the engine, they'll go forever, what with the over engineered gear driven cam. Only minor niggle I had with mine was a faulty reg/rec, common fault thats easily sorted.

As long as no one in your group goes over 140 you can keep up anywhere, very flattering to ride. The bloke that bought mine loves it so much he is looking to bring it back to concourse condition!

Do it, you know it makes sense!!

i really dont want the ride possition of the vfr even tough its nothing like the rsv its not good for 400 mile a day imo . i want a sit upright bike for comfort ,i am looking at xf 650 (suzuki) its like the bmw f 650 and they are in my price bracket .

remember i am keeping the rsv i just want a bike to enjoy on crap days etc and not worry about getting my baby dirty lol ..i know what i'm looking at are not sports bikes and knee down machines but i dont want that as when touring your on the tolls etc for hours . the xf 650 gets a reasonable write up for handling and good fuel economy so hopefully i will find something like that ..

You're not listening. :confused :whipping:horse

400 mile days, that's what VFR'S are made for man! :thumbup

Have you ever ridden one? :dunno

Way better than the ***** you're considering. :puke:puke

Your choice though! :nana:nana

Dont listen to them ;)

Nothing wrong with the Divvy 900. These things were legendary mile munchers, seen em in the dealer I worked for in for servicing with 150k miles plus on the clock. Compared with a VFR they are a piece of piss to maintain and service, the shaft drive is a bonus if miles is the issue. Far more comfortable than a VFR (and I've ridden both), more grunt than an old fazer 600(owned one), better gearbox and fuelling than a TDM900 (had it as a long term loan). And you can pick em up for nowt. Like all really good old uns its hard finding a low miler. And you can tune em up easily. The whole point here is that you're not replacing the RSV, you're looking for a sort of mile munching super hack, and you're looking in the right direction.

£900? 24kmiles? Bargain, that'll be soldiering on when most of the tat on here has been recycled into a family saloon ;)

The best thing is they are so easy to work on, service yourself, clearances a piece of piss, had you gone down the VFR route changing the plugs is a pain in the arse ;)

Bearded stamp collector, home grown enthusiast or possibly wine maker?

You can get a good tune out of em too, pods, cams akra the works if you want. HID candidate.
