Hi guys,

While I was coming to work today all the electrics went off when I tried pressed the horn. The bike runs perfectly otherwise. I was wondering whether anyone here has experience this. I guess I cannot be the main fuse as the bike wouldn't run. A 15a fuss maybe?
 
Could be a fuse Sergi, or water in the horn switch causing a short circuit :dunno have you been out in the rain recently :dunno
 
Not recently, I was like 3 weeks ago but i have been running the bike without problems, mind you, I may have not used the horn for since the bike got really wet. I'll check the fuses later and see how they look. Cheers mate
 
I have a short circuit in the horn which blew the fuse. I changed the fuse and all the controls worked fine until I tried again the horn and the fuse was blown again. I will check whether there is water in the switch or some rust in the connexion on the switch. Any other ideas to find the shor circuit welcome.
 
My guess would be that live feed to the horn, i.e. the wire coming FROM the switch is going straight to earth. Either the wire is rubbed through between the two or the horn unit is fcuked and needs replacing. Stick a meter between each of the horn pins, connector off, and a clean part of the frame. You should find a very high resistance, if not the horn has gone.

Try disconecting the wires off the horn itself and then press the horn button if it dont go pop then its a faulty horn, if it does then its the switch or the wiring...:eatcorn
 
Sorted, I cleaned the connectors at the horn and it works fine now. It was rust and that must have been the reason. Thanks for the advices guys. :thumbup
 
Yeah, needless to say the sense of relief I felt when I fixed the problem. I was expecting something worse having read some people reporting all sorts of electrics problems. Now the pads of my read caliper (which comes from a 250cc aprilia) get eaten so fast is not even funny. Oh well, another story, I may open another threat if I cannot find the cause. I love my mille :inlove
